Finally, the Journal app I was looking for!

Update 9/3/23: I continue to love, use, and heavily rely on this app for journaling. No complaints, no problems. It easily syncs across my MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPad Mini, and iPhone. Search works extremely well for when I need to dig back through entries, looking for something. I found it easy to import entries from the journaling apps I'd used before. I love how easy it is to add photos and graphics taken/made each day. My thanks to its authors for creating, maintaining, and constantly improving this excellent application. ⏩My only wish is that the authors would add integrations with Mastodon, Threads, etc., so that my posts could be pulled in automatically, as my tweets used to be.

Update after using this app for over 3.5 months: I have been keeping my journal, and I have not missed a day. Because I wanted to re-connect with writing journal entries in longhand, I use Nebo to hand write entries, and I then convert them to text and paste them into Diarium. Sometimes I'll make quick additions by typing them in, but my handwriting has improved, and this feels like a very natural way to keep a journal. This app does everything I need, and I am profoundly grateful to its authors for doing such a great job with it.

Original review: I love this app. It makes it easy to make daily entries, easy to find prior entries, and fairly easy to move entries from other apps into this one. It syncs well, and so far it has not let me down.

Fills all of my journaling needs

I found this app and read a bunch of reviews on the App Store. I was so impressed that I saw the creator of the app responding to many of the reviewers, looking to improve the app and actually willing to make changes. I had already downloaded and tried a different journaling app because I thought it would suit me, only to find that you basically have to pay to do anything other than sample the app. I don’t like that bait and switch approach. So I tried Diarium and have been pleasantly surprised by a few of the features. I’ve used it at least once a day for a week so far, and have tried out most of the features. I especially like that I can customize my tags, and trackers, and I’m having fun figuring out ways I can use the customizable templates to work magic for me. I also love that it links with my Fitbit and calendar, automatically documenting things I would want to put in my journal anyway, like my sleep and activity. I still feel a little nervous about having a digital journal - like, what if something unforeseen happens and I lose everything? But I am reassured, feeling like the creator actually cares about whether or not the product functions appropriately.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this extensive review! Of course I do read all reviews and I try to answer to as many of them as possible.
Regarding your concerns about losing your journal: you can either du manual backups of the whole database in the app settings, or you can use the cloud sync, which will automatically keep a copy of your data online, using your personal cloud storage. And you can also export your entries as .docx or other file formats. So enough options to choose from I hope :)

My Search for a Journaling app is Over

For years I’ve been wanting to get all of my journals (handwritten and electronic files), drawings and photos in one place and in chronological order. I wanted to be able to search, sort, use across multiple platforms, add photos and labels. I also wanted to be able to print it.
I’ve only had this app for a couple weeks but it seems to be ticking all the boxes.
I’m handling all of my backlog by adding pictures of my handwritten journal entries by date and adding tags. Adding pictures and files is easy. I add a little each day while keeping up with my current journal. This app allows me to type on the computer or use speech to text on my phone giving me multiple options to add to my journal. I will not completely give up hand writing my journal, so I can still continue to add pictures of my handwritten journals, but when I am out and about it is so easy to add in a thought for the day.
I am still fiddling with the export to print. I have only tried it once and the formatting was the only thing I was not 100% pleased with, it seems pretty basic and I am hoping I can easily do some reformatting. I’m still giving this app five stars.
