The questions in this activity facilitate “mutual self-disclosure,” a process of sharing personal information that acts as an accelerator to deepening connections.
To build a great relationship, you want to start slow and reciprocal. If you disclose too much too fast, it could create the opposite effect and deter someone from opening up.
These questions are based on the “fast friends” protocol, a proven method for deepening connections created by psychologist Arthur Aron at Stony Brook University.
A study published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin actually showed that following this protocol made pairs feel as close as others reported feeling in their closest relationships!
