Version 1.41 (17-August-2026) Content searches now show the found page and line numbers in the summary. The size column now includes a color bar to visually indicate the size of the item in relation to other found items. Make the size column wider to view the bar. Folder sizes are now calculated automatically. Zip and Tar archive support: Content searches can now search inside zip and tar archives. Both the file names and file contents. Dragging a zip or tar archive to the results will show the contents of the archive. You can drag items out of the archive to decompress them.

Version 1.39 9-July-2026 Added Open With... to the right-click contextual menu. Clicking the inspector icon in the toolbar reveals a preview and file information. ProFind now supports searching for exact file or folder names. For example: dolphin.txt : exact You can now explore the contents of any disk cache by choosing 'Show Cache Viewer' from the 'Window' menu. ProFind now supports finding text in Illustrator documents, when OCR is enabled in content searching and/or caching. Added keyboard commands to change list sorting. See the 'View' menu.

Caches are now much faster to build and search. Cache content searches now support whole word matching, word exclusions and all words options. If activating ProFind via the HotKey or system menubar, ProFind will activate the search field when the window comes to the foreground.

Searches can now include "OR" at the end, before any commands. In this case any commands following OR will be treated optionally. For example: "cat OR : tag dog" will find items including cat or tagged with dog. Adding ": whole words" will ensure that words in the query are matched entirely ignoring partial word matches. Added a 'Copy' submenu to the search results context menu. The 'Copy' submenu includes: Copy Name, Path, Content and Contents using OCR. Copying contents will transfer the contents of the file to the clipboard. The feature supports common text and image formats and OCR for extracting text from images and PDFs. You can now search within favorites. So typing a ".png : downloads" will show all the png files within the favorite named downloads.

Disk caches can now optionally allow searching of file contents. Text documents can be indexed based on their contents, while image formats can be indexed via AI-driven OCR to extract text. Defaults to off. You can now choose to save a disk cache on a network disk, allowing it to be shared with other users. Fixed a bug where the hotkey could not be set. Fixed a bug where some items were duplicated in the search results. Fixes a bug where resorting items would hide all the results. Fixes a bug where caches for disks which aren't connected could loose their contents. Fixes a bug where caches could not be added to groups.

You can now use "OR" when searching for words. For example: "cat OR dog" will return results including either word. "OR" must be uppercase. Added 'Maximum Folder Depth' command to limit searches at a particular maximum search depth. Type: 'max depth 4' Items which have been found in a cache but no-longer exist on disk are shown with a line through their file names. Better support for searching cloud storage. Minor UI changes.

For connected disks which have a cache, the cache is now always shown in the search location menu. This enables users to always search a disk's cache without searching the real connected disk. Fixed a bug in regex processing.

Caches for subfolders on the same disk can now be updated individually. Cached locations can now have different update frequencies. Cached subfolders can now be selected as search locations in the search location menu. Fixes a bug where cached items could display incorrect dates.
