BeyondPlayer Pro (originally called Source Player) is a video player for English learners. It supports almost all common video types and playback functionalities.
What makes it unique is its dedicated features for English study, such as:
# View definitions easily as you watch videos.
When you watch videos with BeyondPlayer, you can click a word to display its definition in a pop-up overlay. It's far more convenient than searching the definition in a separated dictionary.
# Drag and select to loop lines
With the built-in subtitle panel, you can drag and select lines for repetition. Moreover, you can repeat the current line by pressing the ENTER key or double-click.
# Save video clip and lines to clip library
You can extra video clip with lines from the current movie to clip library. BeyondPlayer supports both keyword-based and tag-based search in clip library.
(for the moment, BeyondPlayer only supports extract clips from local file, extracting clips from YouTube may be added in future)
# Collect word or phrase to word book and word list.
You can collect the words you met in videos for later study. The words in word book can be grouped by word list.
# Automatic word notifications by annotating words
You can annotate a word by extracting the definition from system dictionary or web dictionary. By doing so, each time you meet the annotated word while watching videos, BeyondPlayer will automatically display a notification to help you recall the meaning of this word.
# View definitions in configurable web dictionaries.
Other than the native macOS dictionary, BeyondPlayer comes with 7 selected web dictionaries, each one has its own character and benefit. You can even change an existing web dictionary to your favorite one.
# Browse and play YouTube videos.
BeyondPlayer comes with a built-in YouTube browser and player. Your favorite channels will be your valuable learning resources.

# Download subtitles automatically
BeyondPlayer is integrated with two subtitle search engines, you can search and download the subtitles for the current movie. Modification of search criteria is allowed for better search quality.
# Blur out hardcoded subtitle
Some video files may hardcoded its subtitle onto the video frame. There is no easy way for a regular video player to hide it. BeyondPlayer solved this problem with an elegant solution.

Beyond player is really all I need for ANY language learning

I would first applaud for the author to make such a fantastic tool which can significantly help the non-native speaker to listen and learn in a fun way. With this tool, it's really easy to navigate to the unknown or unfamiliar words, expression, and pronunciation with the aid of subtitle. What's more, you can even cut and save your favorite clip in the library to later review. I am always trying to save the funny or touching clip in my computer, this tool is the last video player I want. I will definitely recommend it to everyone who is struggling to improve.To the author:I have intensively used your great player for a couple of days. Here I have some questions some other users may also have:1. The video clip is saved in a very low resolution, making me less interested to review it. Can you set or at least give user options to select the same resolution as the original video. 2. Saving clip is a piece of cake, whereas selecting isn't, especially for a longer one. The user needs to drag and select each line of subtitles. Can you make it easier to select by just clicking the first and last line of the subtitle? That will save a lot of time.3. Integrating Yotuble is another awesome feature. Do you have any plan to save clip for youtube video in the future version?4. Lastly, I find Youtao dictionary is a frequently used online dictionary. Would you consider to add this into the dictionary lists?Cheers!
