It is a Go AI featuring a neural network of that strong, open source AI. Leela Zero, ELF OpenGo, PhoenixGo, Minigo, SAI, and optionally KataGo! You can use it as a strong opponent, and as a good teacher at the time of study. With M2 processor of iPad Pro, the playouts are performed over 650 times per second with ELF OpenGo weight v1, and with A15 Bionic processor of iPad mini, over 200 times per second! Both exceed notebook computers and is comparable to desktop computers. With M2 processor of iPad Pro, the playouts are performed over 250 times per second with KataGo b18c384nbt! Other famous weights are also included. For your information, the playout speed on the iPad Pro 9.7 inch model(A9X processor) will be about 10 times per second, and the one on the iPhone 6(A8 processor) will be about 1 time per second. I think that even so it is stronger than most amateurs, but I am sorry that patterns of misreading ladders will increase. Please be careful when considering purchasing. Enjoy it!

App works great, after figuring out how to use it

The app works perfectly. keep in mind, you CAN play with japanese rules against 20 kyu human-like katago model, however you can only do this on 19x19 board after first purchasing the katago model, and THEN the human like model. the app is great and the developer is VERY responsive and helpful.

Developer Response
Thank you for buying the app and I am sorry for your disappointment.KataGo human imitation requires KataGo.You must buy KataGo before imitation.I am sorry for confusing you.

I’ve been waiting for this since the Leela zero project emerged (still waiting for the chess version, but that’s ok). Some improvements could be used: 1. The user interface in general can be improved. Take a hint from some of the other popular go apps. 2. If you leave the app (not necessarily closing it even) the game wipes and for some reason is copied to your clipboard so you can paste it back and resume... clearly users shouldn’t have to do that. 3. It’s up to the user to load non-default network weights. It’d be nice to have those already loaded. You could make it such that there’s every difficulty level from random to pro by loading specific weights. Could track users progress as well, as is done in crazy stone app. 4. There’s a dynamic Komi branch of Leela zero. Could be used for maintaining the AI’s strength and still allowing high handicap games. That is all. Thank you.

This app is good if you are going to play against AI or start a study game from scratch. You cannot set up a position. When you import a game it always starts with the wrong player and doesn’t have an option to change player’s turn. These features need to be installed soon because they are very fundamental. Image recognition is also a nice-to-have feature. Now I use another app to capture a board image, then I export the sgf to another app to set the correct player’s turn and only after then I can start to study with this app.

I passed over 30 times while the default AI filed in its own territory. This was territory that already had about six single space eyes and not enough space to create a living group. It also tried to play inside my living territory over and over again until there was literally no legal plays inside my territory. There is no undo so get ready to waste an entire game if you happen to brush the screen at the wrong time. In fact the ONLY controls available during game play are pass and resign. You can’t even change settings during play. So you can’t turn sound or coordinates on or off while you are playing let alone score, analyze, or get hints. You can’t load a saved game for review, you have to find some way of copying an sgf to the clipboard. They want to charge you PER MOVE for some of the analysis features!!!!!!!!!!For the price of this app, this is utterly ridiculous!

Thank you for purchasing the app.> I passed over 30 times while the default AI filed in its own territory. This was territory that already had about six single space eyes and not enough space to create a living group. > It also tried to play inside my living territory over and over again until there was literally no legal plays inside my territory. The AI actually plays according to Tromp-Taylor rule, which is similar to Chinese rule but requires to take all dead stones on board for scoring. You can stop the game by "Resign" button to proceed to study mode.> There is no undo so get ready to waste an entire game if you happen to brush the screen at the wrong time. You can touch the stone of the latest move and cancel the move.> You can’t load a saved game for review, you have to find some way of copying an sgf to the clipboard. I am sorry for this inconvenience. It seems a bug of iOS 13.Originally You could invoke the app with an SGF file via share button in "File" app. Please wait for bugfix.[UPDATE: It seems that iOS/iPadOS 13.1.3 fixed this problem.]> They want to charge you PER MOVE for some of the analysis features!!!!!!!!!!It is just for scoring. You don't need to make a score PER MOVE since you can always see winrate.> For the price of this app, this is utterly ridiculous!I am sorry that you may misunderstand. If you have never heard about Leela Zero and Lizzie, it may be hard for you to understand this app.You can refund your money from https://reportaproblem.apple.com/.

This is a bug-fix release. 1. To address the crash in KataGo_Special, we increased the weight precision. 2. Fixed a bug where the win rate shown in the win-rate bar worsened when Wide Root Noise was increased. 3. Fixed a bug where the chart was displayed during games even when "Show Position" was off. 4. Fixed a bug where the byo-yomi (time control) setting was not applied in games against KataGo. 5. Fixed a bug where passes were not handled in AI-vs-AI games.
