Free · In‑App Purchases
Skates is a base value calculator for figure skating. Skaters, coaches, and technical specialists can score their programs using the current ISU (International Skating Union) values.
Skates will also create the correct abbreviations based on your inputs, as well as give credit to highlighted elements. Additionally, you can build your content forms, along with timings of elements.
• Need to quickly lookup an element?
You can search for an element, view all base values, and see how GoE's (Grade of Execution) values affect your elements. You can also see what other symbols maybe attached to an element, and what they mean.

Other bugs have been fixed.

2.6.0 09/11/2025
Thanks for using Skates! This version includes:
• Program Requirements and Values for the 2025 - 2026 season.
• After scoring a program, you can now add execution marks to each of the elements.
• Simplified the layout when viewing a program.
• Bug fixes.
2.5.0 08/11/2025
You can now favorite programs. This maybe useful if you want to keep coming back to a particular program to compare. There is also a minor update to how you can filter programs for an athlete. When searching for jumps, levels are now correctly labelled as rotations.
Fixes a bug in the search, where selecting an item with the same name caused the app to freak out. There was also a problem with some of the scaling in one of the charts, meaning that maximum scores were being calculated with level 4, even when this level is not achievable, for example Basic Novice.
2.4.0 04/28/2025
- Programs for Junior and Senior Singles will now automatically calculate whether elements should be credited with the highlight symbol (X) and receive extra value.
- Better visualisation of programs. I have spent a bit of time working on some new charts that hopefully display data in a more readable way.
- Saved Programs now store the grade of execution mark that an element was given, not just the value.
- Some bugs have been fixed, and if you choose to score with the camera on an iPad, you can now actually leave that screen. Sorry for anyone trapped!
2.3.0 04/07/2025
Fixes a critical bug causing the app to crash when launched.
2.2.1 03/22/2025
This update brings some performance improvements and fixes a bug causing content sheet information to be shared incorrectly.
When looking up an element, you can now alter the grade of execution to see how the score is affected. You can also view some additional information on pattern dance elements, including the prescribed pattern diagram.
2.2.0 03/18/2025
This version brings with it a couple of notable changes. I received some feedback that the logical flow of the app wasn't as obvious, as I had hoped. So, I have made some changes.
The live scoring tab at the bottom has been removed. Instead, you can either score by tapping the plus button at the top of the home screen, to start scoring an anonymous program. Or, you can swipe from the leading edge of an athlete to start scoring using the the configuration of the last program that athlete performed. Hopefully this should improve the usability of the app, and mean that you can score programs easier.
The scoring screen has been adjusted to help with usability. The actions have been moved to the bottom to remove the need to stretch your thumbs to reach.
The validation algorithm has been completely rewritten from the ground up. It is now more reliable and easier to maintain when the new rules are released for the 2025-2026 season. This update also lays the foundations to be able to configure program requirements for region specific rules, outside of those published by the ISU.
Please note, I will be dropping support for the 2021-2022, 2022-2023 seasons, in the next update. Programs scored with these rules are safe, but you will not be able to score new programs using those rules.
2.1.1 01/13/2025
This update brings with it a new way of scoring programs. You can now score programs whilst recording with the camera. Clips are automatically split for better reviewing afterwards. Scores can be adjusted, just like the review process of a Technical panel. Videos can be exported either as an entire program, or individual clips, if you would like to use them later.
Please note that this feature is limited to iPad running iPadOS 17.
Fixes a bug that prevented sorting athletes, as well as other improvements under the hood.

2.0.1 03/01/2024

- Up to date Elements inline with ISU categories, including the new Solo Ice Dance category
- Cross platform support for iOS, macOS, and iPadOS
- Improved searching

1.3.5 12/05/2022
So...It's been a while. Apologies for that. When COVID hit, priorities changed. Anyway, here's what's been happening to the app.
- Fixed a lot of bugs...A lot!
- Improved the algorithm used to calculate scores.
- Updated to the newest ruleset. Late to the party. But better late than never.
- Improved stability.
1.3.4 03/02/2022
Well...there are a fair few updates in this version. Here goes:
Finally, native iPad support has been added. For that to be useful to coaches, a few other things were implemented. Cross-device syncing allows programs and athletes to be shared across all your devices. (iCloud Syncing is only available on devices running iOS 13+)
With the opportunity of more screen space, we got to thinking, what if you could film an athlete, and score simultaneously? So we added it! There is a playback screen that allows you to go through and perform performance analysis on a scored program, and see what score each element received.
Please note, that these videos are destroyed once you finish your analysis. This choice was taken to ensure that data of athletes are protected.
Lastly, we have started to build a level calculator. This will continue to be updated, but it gives you the chance to input what your athlete is doing in an element, it provides you with a predicted level. This is perfect for the choreography stage of a program, or maybe checking whether an element meets enough requirements.
1.3.2 02/26/2020
It seems like forever since we posted an update. Got caught up watching the Grand Prix's.
In this update, we have improved (well, we think so) the way in which you interact with the app. The focus has been on trying to speed up from the moment you open the app, to scoring a program. We hope you like it!
Oh, and other bug fixes. We found a bug that was preventing programs from being added. Kinda ruins the point of the app, so that had to go.
1.3.0 11/25/2019
• Redesigned home screen, which is now sorted by athletes.
• Athletes that have more than one program associated with them, shows a breakdown of their scoring trends.
• When creating a new program, you can select from one of your existing athletes, which will auto-select their discipline.
• Refinements to the validation algorithm.
• Bug fixes. (We found a weird bug meaning jumps that were legal, being attributed with a repetition marker.)
We hope you enjoy the new features!

Nothing major, just some minor cleaning.
• Updated the UI of the settings screen. (Wasn't a fan of the old style)
• Added a Dark Theme...Well, everyone else has one! (Accessible through the settings screen).
• Slightly adjusted some of the subscription logic. Should prevent a bug causing a user to get stuck on the processing screen.
1.0.3 05/08/2019
We started to clear the dust in preparation for the 2019/20 season.
Added:
• Added Tea-Time Foxtrot and Finnstep to the pool of dances.
Fixed:
• Some minor bugs preventing base values being updated correctly.
• Some general tidying up.
1.0.2 04/26/2019
