TinyStopwatch is a clean, focused menu bar app for stopwatches, countdown timers, and lightweight time tracking on your Mac.
Built to stay out of the way, TinyStopwatch gives you instant access to elapsed time from the menu bar, with a compact popup for starting, pausing, naming, and managing your timers. Perfect except for missing keyboard shortcuts
XanderPSON
It's exactly the kind of timer I need for staying efficient at work (turn on when working, turn off when not working). My only wish is that there was a way to set a keyboard shortcut to start/pause/stop the timer, rather than having to do it manually with the mouse!
Just What I Needed
RattleYourCage
I just started to use Tiny Stopwatch, so this does not reflect long-term experience. But it does what I need without lots of useless features cluttering up the app. I love having the app dock itself in the menu bar and display elapsed time unobtrusively. Be aware that the menu bar display does not show seconds (which is preferred since that might be distracting). So, it shows 00:00 until at least a minute has elapsed. You click the menu bar display to access the controls, which allows for start, pause, and stop. When you click Stop, your elapsed time and stop time are displayed in a list that also allows you to enter a description for that time segment. Good for keeping track of tasks and elapsed time. Useful if you bill clients for time spent. During use, the time and current status (running, paused, stopped) are conveniently displayed in the menu bar, freeing up screen space. At this writing, the app is also free, so it is one of the best deals I've found in the app store.

Thanks for your detailed feedback! A new update with seconds shown in the menu bar is now available. If you don't need that, it can be quickly disabled with a right-click on the menu bar item.
Almost Perfect Little App
veryken
Love almost everything about it — small, simple, unobtrusive menu bar location, clean, easy to use, reliable (so far). I've used many other timer apps before, even a chess timer physically sitting on my desk. Now it's all digital, all convenient, all instant with keyboard shortcut in the Pro version. And it's been almost a year since I discovered it.The only tiny improvement I can see is having maybe a preference to make the "running state" a bit more noticeable, like a red dot on/off or just different color for the numbers. Currently it requires staring at it for a few seconds to see if the numbers move. Nicer if on or off was a glance.
Great app, version 2.2 is broken.
vakpak
I use this tiny app almost every day to track time on task, and I love new options in the free version to hide the background in the menu bar, start with system, and change the time display type. Unfortunately, the update also broke the timer, which is a pretty important feature for a stopwatch. Multiple times today I have paused the timer and then restarted it after a break only to have the time on the timer instantly DOUBLE when I press the play button. Start the timer with 16 minutes on the clock, and it jumps straight to 32. Useless for billing time on task and very frustrating to see something perfect broken for aesthetic changes. Please fix!

Hi vakpak, sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with TinyStopwatch. The bug you described was fixed in update 2.2.1. Can you please check if the problem is solved? Otherwise please send an email to hello@tinyapps.de so we can take a look. Thanks!
TinyStopwatch 3.1 makes the menu bar popup and window mode smoother, clearer, and easier to use:
• Stopwatch and timer controls are now more direct, with clearer save and delete actions.
• Timers can be named more easily, and their total duration is shown alongside the name.
• Expired timers now show their actual timer duration instead of 00:00:00.
• Saving a unexpired timer to history now saves only the elapsed time.
• The primary stopwatch can now be named, with a new Pro option to keep that name after stopping and resetting.
• Popup and window animations have been refined, including smoother add/delete behavior and automatic window sizing.
• Added helpful tooltips and small polish across the popup and settings.
TinyStopwatch 3.0 introduced the full redesign, including the new menu bar popup, improved countdown picker, redesigned history, clearer menu bar status, better timer alerts, global shortcut improvements, and a new welcome flow.
