SnipTag is two cool apps in one:

1) SNIP: Crop dozens of scanned photos with one click

2) TAG: Add text captions and metadata to digital photos.

A powerful combo to get your old (printed) and new (digital) photos in one place, making them digitally labelled and readily findable.

Download FREE. Import, crop and caption unlimited photos. No time limits. Once you've fully tested it, subscribe or purchase to unlock batch exports (The free version allows 5 exports a day).

Here's how SnipTag works:

Scan up to eight photos at a time with any scanner, smartphone or digital camera, at super-high resolution. Scan in any popular image format (JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP). Bulk-import these multi-photo scans into SnipTag. It automatically detects, extracts and saves all photos in high resolution and original format - accurately and super-fast.

Snip offers a choice of two cropping engines. Try it: It's impressive and fun. We have even included some test scans - in case you don't have time to make your own.

Bulk-import photos from Mac or cloud. Add captions to one or more photos at a time by typing or voice dictation. SnipTag writes all the details in IPTC metadata tags, making it easy to organize and retrieve photos.

SnipTag's metadata editor lets you edit and add up to 25 IPTC and EXIF meta tags, making photos instantly findable in SnipTag or any other photo program, on any computer. You'll never again have to waste time looking for them in your collection of thousands.

SnipTag's Metadata Viewer shows detailed EXIF, IPTC and TIFF data for every photo. And its powerful Photo Finder can quickly retrieve the photos you need.

No Useful Purpose for Most People

This was promoted in conjuction with a companion iOS app for scanning photos. Not really needed or useful for most people if you use a photo/image management app such as Apple Photos or Adobe Lightroom. It that is where you end-up storing your photos, then their tagging tools are much, much better and make a simpler work flow.

Developer Response ,

SnipTag’s metadata editing capabilities are more extensive than Apple Photos’. It also lets you add visible captions, which neither Photos nor Lightroom does. Its unique Snip tool can auto-crop dozens of scans at a time, at higher resolution and in more image formats than mobile apps.

Saved me HOURS of toil

Tried out scans cropping as well as metadata editing. Cropping works very well if the photos are spaced apart and kept inside the frame as the user guide says. I must have cropped thousand plus scans by now, much time and effort saved. And for metadata, last month I emailed the developers for some improvements in handling of dates. They emailed last week asking me to check the new version, and they’ve done exactly what I asked. You won’t get such service from big companies.

Developer Response ,

Thank you. We value your feedback, and are working to further enhance the app’s features - especially the user interface.

I really HATE apps that advertise themselves as 'free' to get you to find them when you are looking for them, and then download, but then don't open unless you pay them money or 'subscribe' with a short trial (in this case 3 whole days!) that then reverts to money per month. That's exactly what this app does. That's not FREE - that's fraud. Unfortunately it's a growing trend. And even worse you then pay per month. You really think your app is worth that? I don't
-----Response to developer response-----
Not surprisingly, you are missing the entire point! The app store DOES NOT clearly state the app has a free trial, it clearly states the app is FREE. It is NOT FREE. I even found it by searching for FREE APPs. The front page of your app right underneath the name of the app says, "Free, Offers In-App Purchases." Just because you have a three day trial DOES NOT mean your app is FREE. What it should say is "3-day Trial, Then Subscription", since you don't actually HAVE in-app purchases.
If you want to charge for you app, great! More power to you. Just don't classify it as a free app when it CLEARLY IS NOT. Stop wasting my time when I am looking for ACTUAL free apps.
By the way, there are LOTS of ACTUAL free apps out there that manage to survive and make a profit with upgrades and in-app purchases.

Developer Response ,

The App Store clearly states that the app has a free trial, then a subscription. On launching, the app restates this and asks you to confirm. How can it be more transparent? Developing apps costs money. Maintaining apps (e.g. keeping them working when you go from Mojave to Catalina), providing customer service, adding features are ongoing costs. Subscription helps cover these. With a subscription users pay a small recurring fee and can cancel any time – better than a hefty one-time price. And three days is plenty to evaluate any app.

=====UpdateHi. Based on your and other users' feedback, we are looking at offering a generous upfront trial (7 days, no need to subscribe or purchase). Could you kindly email us via App Store or, so we can run the concept by you? Sincere thanks for your time.
