I use this for opening the scrapbook files I download - many are .rar and this is the only thing that opnes them. When it works it is great but maybe one of 10 will be bad and there is no description of what the error is. Also it bugs me that I have to do each file one at a time and then clear it out to do a second file. Not sure if there is a pricier version that does more but I am just evaluating it as this version that I actually use.

To be fair, I contacted the developer and he quickly responded--in Chinese. I put it through a translation app and he seemed to say I might be having a problem understanding zip files. I have been using zip files since Phil Katz created the format replacing ARC files. I'm a web developer. I do understand them and I know what I experienced.In brief, I used BestZip Pro to create a password-protected zip file which contained one folder and that folder contained a dozen sensitive financially-related pdfs. I tested the encrypted file on my MBP running Mojave. When I double-clicked the file in Finder, as should happen, it immediately displayed a dialog box requesting first a location for the contents of the zip file and then a request for the password. That's what should happen and the file successfully decompressed.I then sent the encrypted zip file to an associate running Windows 10. We detached the file from the email and I was able to do the following and also recreate it:I opened Windows File Explorer and clicked on the name of the zip file in question. File Explorer displayed the folder that was contained inside the encrypted zip file _without being prompted for a password_!I then was able to drag that folder from File Explorer onto the Windows 10 Desktop without error and without being propmted for anything. I double-clicked the folder and the list of the dozen pdfs then appeared in File Explorer! Lastly, I was able to click each of the pdfs and simply read their contents NEVER ONCE being prompted at any time for any password!Needless to say, this is a serious issue. I'm not even blaming the developer for anything. There is a flaw, however, somewhere in the food chain if encrypted zip files created on MacOS can be read without any password challenge on a Windows box. Maybe someone who is a bit more literate in Chinese can relay the above to the developer so he can look into it and perhaps try to recreate the problem. I'm not saying it's with his program--but it is somewhere.

This app does exactly what I wanted it to in most instances. I have a lot of large backups ZIPed on a backup drive. And I wanted to be able to see into them before extracting a giant file. Unfortunately, many of them are downloaded GDrive backups and I can't seem to use it on those. Kind of bummed! Good work, just needs to continue to evolve.
