Interactive Reading Interactive Reading Programme is an English Language series specially designed for pre-school children. It aims to equip children with basic pre-reading and pre-writing skills at an early stage of their cognitive development, thus enabling them to embark on their Primary School studies with a sense of confidence. The series has a thematic structure. It encompasses four themes: People, Non-living Things, Nature and Animals. Within each theme are three core components - Story Reading, Grammar and Vocabulary. The aim is to enhance the child’s linguistic sensitivity while simultaneously stimulating creativity and logical reasoning ability. Interesting story plots, visually appealing story characters, and fun-filled, entertaining activities help develop children’s interest in reading, writing, thinking and expressing themselves in English. In addition, there are useful grammar notes and references for the teacher. Beginner English Beginner English consisting of English Vocabulary, English Grammar, English Comprehension and English Composition, ensures that a pupil is adequately prepared for all the component of the English Language Syllabus. The content is extensive and detailed, no effort is spared to provide the students with a thorough understanding of the subject. The exercises aim at language improvement and grammatical correctness. Thus, it is hoped that at the end of the series, students will gain adequate mastery in all the language structures taught. English Vocabulary helps students to learn new words that improve their vocabulary and explore language. English Grammar which is specially designed to provide students with adequate practice in the usage of grammar. English Comprehension exercises teach students to manipulate bits of information which can be used to formulate their own answer - one that may not be clearly outlined in the text and in the power of critical thinking. English Composition adequately prepared students for the writing component. Each topic focuses on a specific theme and has a model composition followed by an exercise on that topic. Students can go through the model composition and then complete the exercise which will help them master the art of writing a composition. Daily Conversation This series is suitable for preschool and primary school children. The reader will be both entertained and educated by the adventures of six-year-old Roy and his four-year old sister, Lucy, who are at the core of a lovable cast of characters that is maintained throughout this series. Everyday speech has been used, with an emphasis on clear communication and good language. The level of difficulty develops gradually. Following a theme-based approach, every page teaches new concepts and increases the child’s vocabulary in a natural, lively way. We hope that this series will serve as the basis for developing confidence in English conversation and a love for the language. Assessment Papers This is a collection of 10 practice papers intended as further practice for students taking primary school examination. The practice papers are based on the new PSLE English exam format. The comprehension passages offer equal practise in both narrative and factual passages with questions testing a range of skills including close reading and inferential skills.
