Sudoku Extreme is a beautiful way to experience classic Sudoku puzzles for both beginners & advanced players! It's a great way to keep your mind active while relaxing to pass time. Each puzzle has only one solution. The puzzle comes with a few cells pre-filled. Your job is to fill the remaining empty cells. Fill the empty cells with numbers 1-9 in a way that each row, column and block (3x3 cells) only contains a single instance of the number 1-9.
- No ads. No subscriptions. All features are free.
- Over 100,000 puzzles in 6 different levels: beginner, easy, medium, hard, unfair and extreme.
- It is highly customizable with many beautiful themes as well as settings to customize the app exactly the way you like it. App comes with both light and dark amoled themes to be comfortable on your eyes!
- The simple to use notes and hint features help you if you get stuck but I encourage spending time trying to figure out the puzzles without using hints. Cells filled with use of hints don't get any points.
- Haptic feature gives a positive vibration when correct and negative vibration when wrong answer is filled. This can be disabled in settings.
- If you make a mistake you can use the undo, delete and redo buttons. Note that each mistake deducts points from your overall score.
- Long press the undo button to restart the game
- After a game is finished, you get your overall stats like total time spent, best time, average time, overall score, hints used, mistakes made etc. Sudoku Extreme also comes with a graph of how your scores progress over time. As you play more difficult levels, you get more score. Each higher level gives twice the number of points as the previous level.
- Game can be paused and you can resume the previous game when you come back.
- Sudoku Extreme can automatically pre-fill the notes and auto-remove them when they are used in a row, column or block. Though I encourage disabling this setting and filling it manually as it makes your brain more active! Manually filling notes also gets you extra points!
- The quick fill feature lets you tap-and-hold a number and then simply tap cells and it will fill it with that number.
- Numbers show how many instances of that number are left to be filled in the puzzle. When a number has been used 9 times correctly, it hides itself. You can disable this setting if you like.
- You can swipe up/down to enter notes numbers quickly without having to enter edit/note mode (setting needs to be switched on)
- There is a setting to allow up to 3 mistakes without being penalized in your score.
- "Export Scores" from the app. This can be used in Excel.
- Advanced levels, Themes & Settings customization are part of a small one time only in app purchase. No subscriptions. No ads.

more This is probably the most feature-packed sudoku I’ve found on iOS with tons of quality-of-life settings like auto-note at the start and highlighting cells with a chosen number/note. Long-press to auto-fill is pretty good, and I just found long-press to select number for single-touch-auto-fills.The nitpicks I have are technological in nature though. Long-press (and probably even regular press) should allow haptic feedback, probably as a toggle; if I’m playing for speed then I can’t see if a cell is filled from long-pressing because my finger covers the entire cell so vibrating the phone would let me know the long-press activated. I also have an issue with animation blocking the ability to touch immediately.I’ve found one legit bug though. With animation on, if you fill a cell (definitely with long-press, almost certainly with the normal way) and you cancel the animation super early (e.g. you accidentally slide your finger to the next cell too quickly from a long-press) the triggers of follow-up actions like erasing the number from the necessary notes don’t fire.I currently can’t think of any other extras I’d like to have in a sudoku game, this one seems to have them all covered!
Developer Response EDIT: Hello again! Tomorrow's update fixes the bug where canceling the animation wasn't erasing the number from notes. Sorry, I don't understand the issue so more details will help. Right now, there is already a setting to enable/disable haptic feedback. I’ve tried so many and this is by far my favorite sudoku app. I do wish there was a level between easy and medium. The easy ones are very simple and with the mediums I find myself sometimes stuck and can’t solve the puzzle so have to guess. I have looked up advanced strategies and have used many and gotten better, but still there are times when I see no way to move forward. Don’t know if that would be added on at some point, not just a hint at telling you a number but actually a strategy you can use to solve it at that point. This would take some doing I’m sure. Since picking this version up back in July of this year I’ve logged almost 200 games in it. There’s a ton of options, and my favorite by far (well 2 now as of yesterday’s update) is that I can have all of the possible notes pre-filled!! And as of yesterday I can export my game stats so I can check them out in a spreadsheet and make my own graphs. - Fixed a bug where the "Start in note mode" setting was not obeyed when Restarting a game.
- Note that many users emailed me about correct single answer cells being suddenly highlighted as yellow. This was due to the adding of a new setting to highlight cells with only single numbers with different colour. While I have turned this setting off now by default, some users may need to manually turn this off if their app was updated in a prior update. Sorry about this inconvenience.
- Note that now you can try all difficulty levels and change settings & themes for free.

1. Fixed a bug where when using hold to fill in cell, if you complete the board, it wasn't triggering end of game.
2. Added a feature - you can now swipe up or down on the notes button to toggle hide/show the notes/candidates. There's also a new setting which can disable this feature. It's on by default and is called "Swipe or Long Press notes to hide notes"
3. Added a new setting - whenever a cell with either given or already filled is selected, it won't highlight the corresponding row, column and block. This setting is now on by default and is called "Don't highlight when given is selected".

1. Fixed an annoying bug where the animation or quickly swiping on the board after entering a number was preventing the number from being removed from the notes of other rows, columns and blocks.
2. Added a new setting "Haptic feedback long press override". If the "Haptic feedback" is turned off, this setting can be turned on to still allow haptic feedback when entering numbers using long press (when a cell has only 1 solution note left).

Listening to user feedback:
- The "Long press to fill single option cell" now works for cells with only a single option in notes left too.
- Added a new setting "Long press to fill single option cell" which is on by default. If only a single number is left in that row / column / block or notes for that cell (note must be the correct answer), long pressing the cell auto-fills it. "This decreases finger stress (from having to go back to the number bar each time) and would make things a bit faster and more exciting." - Thanks Gregg!
- I have made changes to the beginner and easy level puzzle generation. It has been tweaked a bit to correctly reflect the difficulty. Before, many users mentioned that even the beginner and easy level was too hard. Now the beginner and easy level puzzles are easier.

- Fixed a bug where the "Start in note mode" setting was not obeyed when Restarting a game.
- Note that many users emailed me about correct single answer cells being suddenly highlighted as yellow. This was due to the adding of a new setting to highlight cells with only single numbers with different colour. While I have turned this setting off now by default, some users may need to manually turn this off if their app was updated in a prior update. Sorry about this inconvenience.
- Note that now you can try all difficulty levels and change settings & themes for free.
