市民の憩いの場であり、桜の名所と知られる明石公園が４００年の時を超えて復活
・野球場がある場所には、藩主が生活していた居屋敷郭御殿が。
・陸上競技場がある場所には、宮本武蔵が造った樹木屋敷と呼ばれる藩主の遊興所が。
・本丸には四隅に三重櫓が立ち並び、失われた乾櫓や艮櫓を再現。

■明石城（あかしじょう）とは
江戸時代のお城絵図を元に、当時の姿を３DCGで完全再現。
明石城は、元和五年（１６１９）に徳川秀忠の命により、幕府主導によって築城されました。初代明石
藩主である小笠原忠政（のちの忠真）が入城しさらに整備を進め、現在残る明石城の原型が完成し
ました。築城と並行して城下町の町割りが実施され、客分として呼ばれていた宮本武蔵がその任に
あたったと伝えられています。
国重要文化財に指定されている本丸巽櫓・坤櫓や、東西３８０メートルに及ぶ石垣が特徴です。
