Soul Strength
I’ve been using the pause App for quite some time to sustain my heart and mind in the Word of God, while walking through much grief and heartache. The 1 minute pauses helped me to anticipate time with Jesus upon rising & before bed. Soon I realized there was more to explore! The 5 & 10 minute pauses, along with the topical scriptures have certainly carried me into a deeper union with Jesus, amidst the conflicting circumstances surrounding my life. After reading the book and finishing the 30 days of Resilience yesterday, I feel as though my soul has experienced a form of fitness training to strengthen my body, mind and spirit to endure the hardness, as I embrace the presence of Jesus and his resilience.; receiving all of His love and healing benefits for me!
The verses, quotes and majestic pictures combined with reflective music, are an invitation to pause from the day; to breathe, listen, declare truths and dwell with Immanuel, Who is in me. Thank you team, for this beautiful, creative, practical and inspiring work! All glory to God. 🙌🏻 This will soon become your favorite App!
Excellent start and finish to your day
I was aware I needed a structured yet doable end and beginning to each day to give my day’s struggles to God and to start my day centered on God. It absolutely had to include prayer and scripture. This fit my need exactly. No amount of self-help will stand the test of time that being deeply in union with Christ will accomplish. Great job Mr. Eldredge. I appreciate that you can’t just skip ahead in the app. You have to finish each day’s meditation to progress to the next. It gets deep, but you get plenty of warming up. I felt it was what I needed to shed off the pain and suffering of the last few years. Jesus alone gets my pain and He is the best counselor. So glad this app gave me structure to get there.
A Note: I fully disagree with us being “amphibians”. I understand the metaphor but it’s a dangerous one in these days where eroding the Creation story is manifest everywhere. So I had to actively look past that part which detracted a little. I was glad a friend gave me heads up on that. Would love an explanation as to why that was included in such a beautiful program. It raises serious questions for me. Because it was repeated so often, I couldn’t give 5 stars. I will restart the app and see if that becomes too much of an obstacle for me.
Overall very happy with the app!

Time to Reflect
I absolutely love this app. Love what John Eldridge talks about, how he talks about it, and ultimately just the amazing tool I’ve been gifted in order to seek a deeper relationship with God. My mother and I even listen to the podcast “Wild at Heart” which is a masterpiece all its own. That being said, there is one thing I would like to comment upon that I find a bit difficult:
In the beginning of the short audio clips, we’re given time to “think” or “take a moment” around various beautiful topics involving Christ and ourselves. But quite often I find that before I can truly begin to settle into these thoughts, John begins to say something to help us get further into that mindset.
I am a slower processor, and would love it if there was some way to change that length of time that I get to reflect. Like a little slider bar that would increase or decrease the duration of the ambient noise before he begins talking again/praying/etc. That way I could really settle into my thoughts and be prepared to continue with the pause session!
Again, love the app. Thank you guys for all the hard work you’ve put in. May Christ continue to work through you as His love and peace constantly shift our mindsets towards Him.
