Prove a result wrong and win up to $200. Now with 43,000+ coins, live metal value, and favourites that sync across your devices.
Is that gold or silver coin real? Tap it, let it ring, and Precious Coin Tester tells you.
A fake can be made to the right weight and size. Getting the sound right is much harder: how a coin rings depends on its metal, right through to its core. Precious Coin Tester knows how each genuine coin should sound at its exact weight and size, and compares your coin's ring with it. That's how the ping test catches what a surface check misses, such as plated fakes and tungsten cores. Judging a ping by ear takes years of practice. The app listens for you.
WHY COLLECTORS AND STACKERS USE IT
• 43,000+ gold and silver coins: search by name, nickname or face value
• 650+ coins free to test, no subscription needed
• Minimum purity estimate for most coins
• Each coin's metal value at current gold and silver prices
• Custom coins: enter weight, diameter and fineness for anything not in the database
• Favourites saved to your account and synced across your devices
• No acid, no chemicals, no scratch plate, no extra kit
HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick the exact coin you're holding. The app can't see your coin: it compares the sound with the coin you pick.
2. Balance it on a fingertip near your phone's microphone and tap it with a hard object.
3. Hold still while it rings. Wait for the sound to fade before tapping again.

Comparing results between specific gravity test, a Sigma Metalytics PMV we own and this Ping testing AP it’s been spot on as are the above two that we depend on to make sure no fakes exist in our stack. For fast accurate detection on the fly we have come to depend on the Coin Tester AP. We’ve subscribed to it and are willing to accept the results without question. It’s well worth the cost and piece of mind. So if your on the fence about using this AP and or subscribing go for it. It’ll save you a lot of grief and pay for itself.

I really am grateful for the service you provide. The only suggestion I have is that you guys supply a table of contents for coins categorized by region. I have some Britannia’s and cannot find them on here at all. I type In Britannia in key word search but nothing. Maybe provide a key Or table of key words, I e run into this with other popular coins that are silver and because I’m not using the correct key words which aren’t provided I end up using manual dimensions which usually come back 2 out of 3. These happen with Niue coins 999 silver too, what’s the key word? Also app needs updated to 2023 it still doesn’t go past 2021. But other than that I love this service you provide thank you sooo much you offer peace of mind. Thank you.
Works great but the monthly subscription
Worksagood
I use it with the pocket pinger and works fantastic. But paying a monthly subscription for something you use a few times a month and maybe none the next. I understand you need to make money but I think you would make more if you had a low volume user fee. A one time $9.99 fee for low volume users. I am sure you would make a lot more money a lot of us are tired of subscription apps. it really starts to add up. Do you even read the comments I see no replies. Some money is better than none. Would be 5 star without subscription.
Excellent App

Free version was more than enough for me. Allows you to select Buffalo Rounds. Was still able to test my Eagles with this too, as the size is all that matters. Tested bars and junk I have to see how legitimate the rounds tester is. Spot on every time. Can’t see how anyone could complain. Free version is good enough for me.
