Right off the bat, I have not paid a single red cent playing this game. I’ve been playing this game for about 9 months now. The first month I was just like any new player to the game. I won some, I lost some, had a lot of fun doing it just playing head to head against a live player or a bot (if no live player available). Then I started unlocking and upgrading clubs, playing in tournaments, and the quick shot events. It got even more fun as I progressed. I couldn’t win tournaments right away because I did not have upgraded equipment, but as I played more, it got easier. After about 4 months playing, I realized I couldn’t compete against some of these players even though I had somewhat upgraded clubs. So I went out and found some tips on how to get really good at it. That’s when this became the best golf game I’ve ever played. There is so much strategy involved to win tournaments. The game is based on clubs and their attributes, course setups, and wind. There could be 15 different factors to take into consideration to hit the perfect shot. I still don’t have my equipment fully upgraded but I am now one of the top 20 tournament players in the game, and I’ve done it without spending any $ at all. Was it hard? Heck yes it was hard, and that’s what makes it even better. They’ve come out with new courses (which are real courses BTW, Torrey Pines included), new leagues, more tournaments, multi round tourneys, etc. It’s a fantastic game. Graphics are awesome, courses are cool and realistic, play is challenging but fair. Couldn’t ask for much more than what this game delivers.

Good game but it would help if you had more shot/club information and though not unique to this golf game it’s expensive. All golf games seem to be at least slightly more expensive then other games as a whole. In the real world it’s expensive so it being a game of affluence in life it makes sense that it has a higher amount of real cash in the gaming world. It’s pretty easy game to understand even without out practical knowledge of the game of golf itself but most likely won’t be of much interest to those without at least a passing interest to the real game. Compared to other golf games hitting the ball the right way, at least to me, is easier but more detailed shot distance and club distance would be helpful. I really have no actual complaints about the game just slight issues that you see in any game where you need to hit or shoot something with a certain amount of accuracy. It’s easier to play than other golf games, the issues with distance and accuracy will probably lessen with repeated play and it has above average replay ability. And the key issues with most free to play games is in app purchases which are slightly more expensive then other non golf games and competitive with most golf games.

At first this game caught my interest because it presents well and the controls feel very master-able, albeit slowly master-able. You feel like your developing a skill that is fun to compete with… a seemingly perfect game, until reality sets in. Under an excuse of “gaming experience” you will be mostly facing bots that are intentionally made to seem like real players. The biggest let down is thinking your skill earned you a win only to discover you were playing a bot the whole time (you learn to pick up on when you’re playing a person or not). But then after busting out months of gameplay, you realize you can’t win unless you pay. So you pay. You get the good balls, the good clubs, the perks, and all that and suddenly you’re competing with the top players, and even that’s disappointing because all your money got you was a fair wind speed to compete with. Basically, you want to play for free? You get to play in 15mph wind. You want to pay us $20? 2.7mph wind, and your ball lights up now. Gag. You want to impress someone who plays to compete in your game? Make it consistent, how about that? Make it do the same shot as the last time you did the exact same thing in the exact same setting, on the exact same hole, accurately. This is clearly a well thought out money grab by people who care more about getting your money than making an actual quality game. Period.

Some rave about this game…and in some ways they should. But sadly, the developers either don’t play golf or just don’t get the concept. They’re so close to a perfect golf game. But the small details they have left out are causing the biggest issues for me. I have worked pretty hard to scratch up some reward cash to upgrade my clubs. That helps me drive a little further and maybe hit a little more accurately. But if I can’t select a different club based on where I am and what I’m trying to accomplish, what’s the point? I’d also like to be able to buy upgrade points to get me to an upgrade faster…but I can’t. Don’t trust putter lines. They’re garbage way too often. I’ve lost THOUSANDS because I can’t get a solid read. And if you’re playing the wind, GOOD LUCK!!! The movement on one shot with a sidewind at 7mph will not be the same next time. Even with perfect shots. Tiebreaker games…. Lol. Ridiculous hole placement and, again, not able to select the club I want, has cost me plenty of games. It’s so frustrating. I’ve stopped playing as much as I used to because they take the fun out if it. Who wants to play golf blindfolded??? That’s what it feels like when you can’t read the slope or know the green speed. If you’re into golf and want to experience disappointment and frustration, you have 2 options. You can play this game… or go to an actual course and play with 4 clubs and a bottomless bucket of range balls.
