A good app but needs to be streamlined

It’s a good app. Sometimes you will need to reboot before your droid device will mount, but that’s ok. The big issue, for me, is the interface. The interface that mounts the phone as a drive should show the file structure. Instead there is the mounting interface (which just sits there on top of all other folders unless you minimize it to the dock or close it), and the second which opens in the finder. It shows the entire droid architecture hierarchies with multiple ways of getting to the same files and a lot of stuff you will probably never touch. Like you can get to your files from scared or storage. It should just show one consistently.

Thank you for your feedback. You’re absolutely right that the current setup includes two parts: the connection window and the Finder-mounted drive. The Finder view reflects the actual Android file system, which can sometimes appear complex, with multiple paths (like /sdcard and /storage) pointing to similar locations. This is part of how Android organizes its storage. Your suggestion to simplify the structure has been forwarded to our development team for further review.
Good but can be better.

Updating my previous review. The app is a very useful tool but has a lot of room for improvement, especially with if theyre trying to have it be subscription based (which is insulting for this simple kind of app.) If they wanted to improve it, they should provide you with a window where you can see the background tasks. This would allow you to see whats being uploaded at any given time. It should also allow you to cancel uploads. I dragged a bunch of music folders to the phone but ran out of space but theres no way to cancel the app from trying to upload things when I connect it to the computer (except unmounting it). The app is basically useless to me now until I either get more storage or clear enough storage for those folders to finish uploading since I cant cancel the uploads. Also, as I mentioned in another review, Mac lets you use certain characters that a windows computer doesnt so if you try to upload a file that has one of those characters, it will fail. The only problem is that the app doesnt tell you what files failed. It doesnt provide any log at all. One last issue is that it takes up mad space for cache but doesnt tell you where that default cache folder is (and neither does any of the apps documentation) so unless you can find it yourself, you'll be down a lot of space until you do. I set the Cache'd Files Lifetime to 15 minutes and that space was never freed up. I hope that this is addressed in future updates, at which point I will come back and make a new review. TLDR: It works but there are some quality of life updates that should happen to make this a true 5 star app. It's just not there yet but based on the responses Ive seen from the developers, they seem to be paying attention to the feedback.

1. It is not possible to use MacDroid software without a subscription. Thus, you need to subscribe and activate the software. The billing cycle for MacDroid is one year thus you can cancel the subscription at any time.We are sure that auto-renewing subscriptions are the most convenient way to monetize this application:- throughout the entire subscription period (1 year), the user gets access to all major updates of the application at no additional cost, and we do not need to send keys to those who bought this software with Lifetime Upgrades Guarantee.- if the user does not need the application, he can cancel the subscription at any time.2. The limitation on the usage of special characters in names (for example, a colon) is not on our side, but rather a constraint imposed by the file system upon which the Android OS operates. As a result, errors occur during the copying process on Android devices.3. You can cancel what files failed in the MacDroid menu by clicking on 'Cancel failed uploads';. 4. If you cannot find the file that failed, please contact our Support Team via email support@electronic.us for further investigation.5. Caching of file operations is configured on the system part of the disk by default. If you initially do not have enough space on the system disk, then you need to reconfigure the cache to another part or disk.In MacDroid, you can do it in Preferences> Choose cache folderSuppose you had enough disc space on the system disk, but it ended because of copying files through the Macdroid. In that case, the cache will be cleared automatically, for example, when you restart the MacDroid or when you unmount the device but only if the copying of files and the downloading to the device were completed successfully.5.
Amazing though a little glitchy at times

I use this for getting photos and videos off my Nintendo Switch which does work really well, but sometimes it seem to glitch out a little bit. On my second time using MacDroid it didn’t update the files on the switch and when I removed the connection it kept telling me I couldn’t add a new connection to the switch because it was the wrong type. I managed to fix the issue by deleting MacDroid then re-installing it. But It took forever to treble shoot because I though I must have been using the wring kind of cable.

Not really a *free* app - you have to pay for “pro” version if you want to use it for real.

This app shows in App Store as *free* (with in-app purchases), but in reality this app is not very useful unless you buy “pro” version.Showing directories and files of the connected Quest headset in Finder works in this app, and you can preview files, but as soon as you want to do anything with these files - you are just prompted to buy “pro” version, and it is not cheap - over 30$ for perpetual license (or cheaper 1 year subscription).I understand when “pro” version provides some advanced functionality on the top of basic/free features, but without basic, minimal file operations this app is not very useful. Also it is hard to justify paying for “pro” version when files access to Quest is readily supported by standard free tools, like command-line ADB and (free) GUI shells for ADB.…I understand the *free* version probably is intended to be more of an advertisement for the real *pro* version, if this is the intent - I would suggest to consider using Free Trial model, giving users full access to app features for a limited time. This would provide the ability to try the app for free in transparent and clear form.
