Learn the fretboard. Play with confidence. Turn guitar practice into a game with Guitar Blast. Learn where notes belong, improve your recall, and build a stronger foundation for chords, scales, and improvisation. Whether you’re learning your first notes or sharpening your skills, Guitar Blast makes fretboard practice engaging and easy to fit into your day. LEARN THROUGH PLAY Follow a structured campaign that introduces the fretboard step by step. Start with open strings, discover more notes as you progress, and test your knowledge with increasingly challenging levels. Find the right notes, blast them away, and aim for a better score. TWO WAYS TO PRACTICE Guitar Mode: Play your own guitar or bass. Guitar Blast uses your device’s microphone to recognize the notes you play and respond during the game. Tap Mode: Practice directly on the screen. Keep learning note positions even when your instrument isn’t nearby. FOCUS ON WHAT YOU NEED Use Advanced Training to practice individual strings or specific sections of the fretboard. Choose your note options and session length to focus on unfamiliar areas or review what you’ve learned. CONNECT NOTES TO MUSIC NOTATION Staff Training helps you connect notes on the musical staff with positions on your fretboard. Strengthen your note-reading skills alongside your fretboard knowledge. BASS GUITAR SUPPORTED Practice on four-string or five-string bass in standard tuning. Learn bass note positions through the campaign, focus your practice with Advanced Training, and play using your bass or Tap Mode. TUNE UP AND JAM Get ready to practice with the built-in tuner. Then explore the Jam Room for backing tracks across rock, blues, metal, and acoustic styles, along with guitar lessons to develop your soloing and improvisation. SEE YOUR PROGRESS Review your speed, accuracy, and scores after playing. Earn stars, unlock virtual guitar designs, and keep your routine fresh with daily challenges and streak rewards. Compare scores with other players through Game Center leaderboards. Pick up your guitar or bass—or start tapping—and learn the fretboard one note at a time. Standard tuning: guitar E A D G B E; four-string bass E A D G; five-string bass B E A D G. Microphone access is required for Guitar Mode and the tuner. Backing tracks and video lessons require an internet connection. Full access requires an in-app purchase. PURCHASES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS PRO access is available through monthly or three-month auto-renewable subscriptions, or a separate lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before purchase. Lifetime purchases have no recurring charge. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at purchase confirmation, or when an eligible free trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends. Great tool

This seems to be the best way to learn the fretboard notes for me. I’ve tried several other ways. But the process was just too boring. And when you are bored, you can’t retain what you are exposed to. This app listens to the notes played and is very accurate in determining what note is being picked on what string. And if you do not have a guitar with you, you can just tap the notes on the virtual keyboard. This also improves fretting hand accuracy as well as string picking accuracy. There are many levels. Most of which I have not yet earned. There is nice feedback to encourage you to keep learning. EDIT: New feature added: rather than making touchscreen selections, you can now just make selections by hitting a string. Your fingers do not need to leave fretboard!! Awesome! This works! EDIT: Still enjoying Guitar Blast after 3 months of use. Great app!!App works perfectly in iOS 15.1 on iPhone and iPad. FrankPCiii

Hey. I just wanna to drop this note for you and anybody else that read this review. “Thank You very much for your app”. I won’t lie, I have been searching and waiting for a kind soul to make this app for a long time. You were spotted on in every single training exercise. Pretty sure you were struggled with yourself and build that app. The app the way it is right now it’s awesome. I have been using the app like a maniac for the last two days. There are a few things that would be great to improve but this will be another email, right now I’m more than happy with it. I took the offer of lifetime access but I’m still having the ad “buy PRO” showing up. Probably it just a glitch. Once again, thank You so much for your app.

I’ve used almost every method in the book to break through the mental block of learning the notes on the fretboard. This is definitely one of the best I’ve found so far. It’s super accurate when identifying what note you’re playing…and on your REAL guitar. So much better than trying to memorize the fretboard from a book or diagram. The instant feedback and stats are immensely helpful and motivating. I find myself trying for that perfect score to beat my best all the time. This app does a great job at “gamifying” learning the fretboard. Highly recommend trying it out.

Good, but doesn’t recognize guitar notes well

I am learning a lot from this app and will definitely continue using. It works great when I use the screen to touch the notes, but I’ve tried using the app with two different acoustic guitars and it takes hitting the notes 2-4 times before the app recognizes the note and moves onto the next one. I’ve tried sustaining the note, playing it staccato, plucking with my finger or with a pick but it’s equally inconsistent. I’m using a perfectly working iPhone 7 with the latest iOS and using the built-in mic about 8-12” from the guitar sound hole. Another issue is that the scale/size of the fretboard changes each time the app adds another fret to learn. Eg, when learning the first three frets, all you see are the open strings and the first three frets. When you are learning the 8-9th fret, you see open strings all the way up to 9th fret and so on. This is problematic for visual learners as suddenly the 3rd fret that was at the far right of the screen is suddenly on the left 3rd of the screen and I have to make a quick calculation to rescale the neck/screen in my mind as the levels move forward. The better option, in my opinion, would be to show the whole fretboard from the first lesson so that you are seeing where the note is in relationship to the whole fretboard at all times, giving a more accurate visual context for where the note lies on the guitar. On this one I’m not positive, but at least on level 5, the very last “quizzes” or bonus rounds seem to be testing me on frets that haven’t been taught yet, which is a little confusing. All and all, this is a fun and effective way to learn the fretboard, but for me, is only really workable by pushing the notes on the screen and not by playing the guitar. Still a step up from just sitting down and learning it other ways, so I’m grateful to the developers for creating this app. Worth the $6 or whatever it costs. Thanks!

Hello danyastar,Thanks for your great, detailed feedback.Regarding your main issue: pitch detection, I may suggest a few things. - Reducing background noise: Any noise such as ambient, airconditioner, computer fan, etc. reduces detection sensitivity. I know this may not be very convenient, but trying to reduce these noise will improve performance. - Using external mic: In case you can't reduce background noise, you may try standart iphone headphones as mic. External microphones filter out ambient noise better than build-in phone mic. Also when you wear headphones, mic will stay very close to the back of the guitar body, so it will get sound better. - Fret buzz: This is unlikely but during development we saw that note detection is worse if there is too much fret buzz. Playing lightly may reduce buzz.Other issue: Fretboard layout. When designing this app, we thought it would be better to have a dynamic layout system to increase the distance between buttons and thus to ease tapping. Maybe not everyone has sausage fingers as me. We will add a setting to chose static fretboard layout. We added this to our to-do list. Bonus level problems: This will also be fixed in next update. Thanks again and WE are really happy you enjoyed Guitar Blast!Have a great day!
