Okay first off, game is phenomenal. Runs very smooth, nice animations, cool gameplay. You can tell the developers put some thought into the game. My only request is that your able to save games so you can share with your friends later. Please do that so you can show off some victories when you view someone’s profile. Oh, and I paid for the app after playing with it after 5 minutes. I haven’t ever done that for anything else! That shows how good of an app you have here.

I love the customization aspect of the game. I love a lot about the game but I think there should be daily refreshes on ammo and I think there shouldn’t be as many dud chests. You play so many games back to back to get a single key just to unlock a dud chest. And if the chest isn’t a dud you get 3-5 cards out towards something that needs 125 cards to fully unlock. Progression is ridiculously slow unless you spend money which makes it seem like that’s what the game wants more than anything. Also there needs to be an option in the settings to have to double click an area to confirm moving a piece. I’ve lost too many pieces and games due to accidentally clicking a square one space over leaving my queen wide open for getting taken. I have big fingers and the largest iPhone on the market and yet I still keep clicking the wrong space. You need to add a double click setting to move.

If you are serious about chess, don’t even use this as a last resort

Chess Universe had the potential to be a fantastic chess app, but it’s unfortunately held back by several serious issues that make it incredibly frustrating to use — especially for players who take the game seriously.To start, the sheer number of advertisements is overwhelming. Almost every action — from entering a tournament to simply navigating menus — is interrupted by a mandatory ad. It quickly becomes exhausting and makes the app feel more like an ad platform than a chess game. A few ads are understandable in a free app, but this level of intrusion is excessive.Worse still, I experienced a situation where I checkmated my opponent, but lost the game because the victory animation delayed the conclusion and my timer ran out. This directly contradicts the basic rules of chess — checkmate should end the game immediately, regardless of the clock. It’s incredibly frustrating to lose a game I had already won, simply because of a visual effect.To make matters worse, there’s no option to turn off these animations, which are not only unnecessary but can actively interfere with gameplay. A simple setting to disable effects would go a long way in improving the experience for those who prefer a cleaner, faster interface.As it stands, the app feels more focused on flashy visuals and monetization than delivering a smooth, fair chess experience. If I could give a negative five-star rating, I would. I truly hope the developers take these concerns seriously and make improvements — because right now, it’s difficult to recommend this app to anyone who values good gameplay over distractions.

UPDATE: Every game I now play takes me to the App Store mid game. Even when I don’t push on anything while waiting for my opponent to make a move. The lock still ticks and I have been taken to the App Store 5 times during an end game and lost so much time. Hate this update! I’ve been playing chess with this app daily for a long time now. Today there has been a big update which I was excited for at first but then became really frustrated. I won multiple games and the rating hasn’t changed at all. Moreover, when I try to play online it’s taking forever to find a player and when they do they don’t end up playing. I’m pretty sure the majority of people I was paired with today weren’t real people. You updated way to early. There’s a lot of glitches,bugs, and slow loading time that makes me want to rage quit. Fix the app asap.

We have removed redirecting ads from the app and in the latest update there are no longer such issues popping up, our busiest and most used online modes are 3 and 5-minute games so we suggest giving those a try as you will find more active users.
