Another Amazing Installment

I've been a Mac/iPhone user for more than a decade, and in a sense I feel that I've grown up with this game. I'm reviewing Asphalt 9, but I feel it appropriate to mention all of the other versions - in my previous years, I would play and enjoy those too. The graphics in this particular version are insane (check out Asphalt 4 if you don't believe me) - the game has changed over the past decade, as any series would, but the game not only keeps its original elements - but it also adds new and exciting content. The only negative thing I could possibly say is that back in the day you were able to just buy the Asphalt games, now they're free to play - with lots of 'add ons' you can purchase. Then again, with that said, we do not live in the 2010 world of gaming. This is an incredible game, one that you can more or less play without paying - but if you want a concept car to destroy all of your oponents, then you maybe should do an in-app purchase. Then again, how much fun is that? It doesn't match the feeling when your default car eliminates the competion with your planning and skill. Thank you GameLoft!
Great Gameplay, Bad Progression
Jason Renner
I really enjoy the actual gameplay of Asphalt 9 and it is one of my favorite racing games. The stunts you can pull off are very entertaining, and it's an overall satisfying gameplay experience. However, this game is such a grind-oriented experience. To progress you need to play the same races tens of times, which is incredibly repetitive. I know this game is free but this isn't an RPG. The developers have made a solid racing game, but playing the same track with the same car 15 times just to unlock 2 blueprints for that car is ridiculous. Another major issue is the campaign/my career mode. This is my favorite part of the game and contains the most fun races. However, even when following the standard progression path, you get stopped by having an underpowered car. This results in another grind for blueprints. When you make a story mode for your game, you should be able to progress without having to grind other modes. The final issues I find, this specifically for the Mac port, are the graphics and lag during multiplayer. Multiplayer lags heavily and the screen flashes constantly, loading in and out parts of the track. This game could be so much more fun if they changed these things even a bit. Just make the progression a little more fair.
Fun racing game but Mac version neglected
BetaCar8
The most fun racing game ever. However, despite its popularity, the Mac version of the racing game suffers from several bugs and neglect compared to other platforms. Notably, an update months ago broke the trackpad’s touch-to-tap functionality, requiring users to click the trackpad every time they want to tap. Additionally, launching the game fails to register keyboard or trackpad inputs unless the user switches to another application window and then back to the game. This issue persists every time. Furthermore, the Mac version lacks several settings available on the Windows version, such as Manual Acceleration and more than 60 FPS options (please add 120 FPS support) It is also worth mentioning that switching to full-screen mode significantly reduces FPS to 30-40, regardless of the graphics settings and performance of the Mac. Consequently, users are forced to use windowed mode to achieve normal FPS performance. Furthermore, the game registers inputs even when it is not the focused window, such as when an application is open on top of the game. This is particularly disappointing given Apple’s repeated promotion of the Mac version of the game, while Gameloft appears to disregard the needs of Mac users.

I love the game. I've spent over 100 hours in the game. But there is definitely room for improvement.First thing is if you were in multiplayer, and you are not using touch drive, then have the game pair you with other people who are not using touch drive. I feel like touch drive is the number one thing that cheapens multiplayer for me especially in slipstream. The second thing is I would like to see is in the my career section you would be able to race any race if you have a car for it. Even if you were under rank. I found the ranking system to be quite inaccurate. Some races I would not be able to even get close to beating the race at the recommended rank. and then other races, I would have a huge lead, even though I was just barely reaching the recommended rank.Third thing is the gas system. I actually think the gas system is kind of smart. Because it causes you to want to level up all of your cars instead of just your favorite. Because you are unable to race your favorite car the whole time. But the game mechanic that you need to empty your gas before it will start filling up. I think it is a terrible idea. The fourth thing is it be nice to be able to turn off in settings all of the debris that is displayed. There are some races that I just don't like the feeling of crashing into everything on the street. Like street lamps I think are OK. But when you are crashing into plant, pots or fences I think is a little bit over the top. It would be nice in the graphics settings to be able to just switch off all of the debris.
