UPDATE: This doesn’t change my score, but one other nit I have for the devs is that I wish there was a way to pay to remove ads that did not include speeding up the game. At the moment, you can’t buy “remove ads” in the store without also getting a perk that increases the experience you receive. I’d rather not progress faster since it’s a fun game, so I’d love to see that option. As my previous review below says, the ada aren’t bad though so I live without.I don’t usually write reviews, but wanted to let the dev know this is a great game. Title says it all. You don’t often find a game that isn’t ruined by ads, but this one has a fine balance. They’re there, but aren’t built into a grind like many other games. Game itself is pretty addictive. After a few hours of playing, I can say that I’ll spend many more. There are a few gripes, like sometimes you can create a build that creates a stalemate with some enemies. I believe that is part of the game though. It shows the build’s weakness and it allows you to exit the fight early anyways. Hope more games like this are made in the future.

I really enjoy playing this game. I have purchased characters and tools of the trade I have played all four characters and enjoy using all their unique abilities. Sadly, there’s a serious issue with coming in from an ad break. I understand The need for revenue and that this and as a independent development house there may be a limited resources to work on bugs. It is super frustrating when you come back in from an ad break and the game totally freezes up making you drop out and restart. I tI had a freeze earlier today that locked the game so tight I had to delete it and reload it from the App Store. There is a reload feature in-game and used it and I got back some of the characters (chanter and wizard) and some of the resources (the crown trail, my most recent purchase) but not the rouge or any of my achievements, purchased advantages, potions created or history. It was if everybody started at back at zero. I had completed 80% of the game and had played dozens of “contracts” as of this morning. I do not mind restarting because I really love the game. If it happens again I will just have to stop playing because it’s heartbreaking to lose all that history. I really like to take my comments and complaints directly to the company and not just bust on them on the App Store or in reviews however, there is no direct link from the application to the developers so that comments can be made. I will change this review in a heartbeat and revise it to five stars if the developers can address the situation.

How many games have you downloaded that you never come back to? I’m guessing a lot. This game is not one of those. I tend to play this game a few minutes a day and overall have about 6 hours worth. I’ve won with each character 1 time on normal mode. That’s perfect. It hits a sweet spot where you feel like you progress constantly. Buying the extra gems and other things will definitely help in that process. If you want my opinion I think that’s the only thing this game does wrong. I truly wish they charged me $8-15 for the entire game and make in game items more easily obtainable. If I hadn’t purchased the gems pack I would have easily spent an extra 6 hours completing the first run through of each character. I feel like the game stopping at dungeon 2 for normal is weird. Why not give me the option to continue EVEN if it will ruin the play through. Make it so I CAN cash out my run and not force me to. The game is super fun though. I’d ask for a change in the games price to speed up the in game upgrades. Thankfully there is no battle pass because if there was I’d delete it on sight. Add some more characters as well. 4/5 for the gameplay being fun and replayable. Minus the star for the greed of mobile gaming.

Truly a gem on the App Store. A dungeon crawling, deck building, dice rolling, perk unlocking joy to experience. Every game feels different due to the unique combinations of cards acquired, artifacts found, rules governing the dungeon, and enemies faced. Progression is tangible and satisfying as you upgrade via game’s various currencies. I realize most games use currencies to squeeze money out of the player, but that’s not the case here. The dungeon produces more than enough for proper advancement. In addition, there are no timers or other limitations. With one exception that I think is not only fair, but crucial to the game’s balance: Character selection. You can play four characters, each with a very unique way of handling dice, each requiring different strategy to truly succeed with. Only one is unlocked at the outset. The second is earned with in game currency (unless you’re spending your gems as quickly as you earn them you’ll have no problems unlocking the second character). The third is a US dollar to unlock. The fourth is two US dollars. So essentially it’s a $3 game if you like it. And if you make your way through the first two characters, the differences the two IAP characters bring is well worthwhile. Each character has a series of progressively harder dungeons, and each new character is more difficult than the last, so there’s a good sense of increasing strategy. And once you unlock all the characters and finish all the dungeons, there’s the daily challenge—ie a special dungeon with unique rules at the outset—to keep the game fresh. I really can’t get over how continually rewarding Dicey Elementalist is. Also: Shout out to whoever designed the game’s potions. Don’t know how they got each bottle to look individual AND gorgeous, but they succeeded. I love making potions even though I don’t use them very often, lol.
