Apple Watch

Zungzi is derived from the Chinese words 鐘 zung (clock) and 字 zi (word). It is a flashcard app to learn up to 11,000 Chinese words from the official HSK 3.0 word list, right on your Apple Watch. No manual deck setup required — Zungzi automatically picks the right words for you and adapts based on how well you know each one, so you can start learning straight away. Some of the key features of this app are: - Spaced-repetition algorithm to repeat words that you attempt incorrectly more frequently than the words that you know well. - Support for traditional and simplified Chinese - Support for pinyin and jyutping romanizations - Word type and part-of-speech tags for extra context on every card - Bookmark words so you can look them up in a dictionary later - Choosing the order in which you want to learn words (including HSK levels 1 to 9) - Thousands of example sentences to learn how a word is used in practice - Text-to-speech in both Cantonese and Mandarin - Study hands-free with the Double Tap gesture on Apple Watch Series 9/Ultra 2 and later - Statistics to track how many words you have learned, including a daily streak graph - Watchface complications to learn new words while glancing at the time - Daily notifications to remind you to do a bit of study Please follow me on twitter (@zungzi_app) and provide any suggestions/feedback for future versions.

great idea and execution

very good idea to make this app, and it looks/works great! one suggestion, if possible, it would be great to adjust the font size. on my watch the English and Pinyin is very small. it would be great to be able to increase the size of that and maybe the hanzi too.

Developer Response
Thanks for the feedback, note it was designed with the smaller watch in mind so I had to use smaller fonts to fit all the text in. I will experiment with the layout to see if I can make it larger.

Flashcards form a great tool to hone language skills and this app puts them on your wrist. The app is beautiful and easy to use. Perfect for a couple of minutes to spare; perfect for the Watch. Highly recommended.

I love this app, I have learnt so many new words from using flashcards everyday. The best thing is it can display both translations so I can learn Cantonese and Mandarin together!

I’m not 100% sure that the characters are translated into the most common English word, but still pretty fun.
