Look, I loved manga rock. And what you’re doing now is pretty good. I understand the whole supporting the creators thing, it’s a good cause, scanlations do hurt the community. But this isn’t the way to do it properly. When you put things behind a paywall (like reading something that you enjoy) it ruins it. Most people are just gonna go back to scanlations, and you wouldn’t have done anything. Instead, you need to give us ads, like the scanlation sites. People use them because they are free. Your service is not free. With ads, you ensure everyone is contributing (everyone sees the ads) and the more people read the more money is made, instead of a set amount per month. It also ensures if you do it right that successful creators get more money, because more people are seeing the ads on their content. It allows more opportunity and makes it less likely that people will go back to scanlations, which give us ads anyway but don’t support the creators. If you just give us ads but say that you actually support the creators, I think people are likely to stay or even transition over. And maybe give an option to pay for no ads monthly for like 3$ or less. I and many more simply don’t have extra money. We make very little, and use manga to Escape. We can’t read it though on INKR, it’s behind a paywall. That’s what I think. In summary, the idea and intention is good, but like many times In the past, it just wasn’t executed correctly, and that’s very unfortunate. I hope you can use my suggestion.
Not as good as before
I love this app so much !!
I had manga rock for a couple years and deleted it about 3 years ago. I loved manga rock and recently I wanted to see if it was still in the app store. When I looked for it I had learned that Manga Rock had turned into Inkr. I had just thought they changed the name and the way it looked but when I started to read a few manga i had on manga rock they start to ask for a subscription and passes. I was so disappointed to discover this. I know the payment for the subscription is only $4.99 but I know my parents they wouldn’t pay for something like this. I tried the trail and I was so happy to be able to read manga for free but recently it finished so now I have to use passes. The passes aren’t very reasonable. The way you get ink is very easy but you usually get like 10 for an ad and 80 for a challenge. For a day pass it’s 500 ink, JUST FOR A DAY. So you can only read these blocked chapters for a day and it’s not really fair. For 3 days it’s 1500 and for a week it’s 3500. I only had this app for about 2 weeks, the first week I tried getting ink for the passes and the second week I decided to use the trail which lasted me a whole week. Even with this much time of having the app I only have 910 ink, barely enough for 3 days. I’m just very disappointed in how they remade the app.
Decent service. Slow, glitchy app. Please fix.

I generally like the service. The collection of works includes stuff that differs from other similar services that collect from different publishers, including Kodansha. Translation quality wildly varies, though. Inkr might want to consider retranslating a lot of older comics, because they bring down the overall impression. I do appreciate that the newer ones have vastly improved translations and the ability to rate the quality. I also like that I can access the more mature rated content from the app. Some services restrict that to only web browser access. My problem might be isolated to the current version, but everything loads so slowly. UI responses to taps have delays. And it constantly freezes, so I keep having to restart the app. I’ve tried rebooting, deleting the app and reinstalling, but it’s the same. Do some regression testing? Add another server? Incompatibility with something in an iOS update? Other similar apps I use aren’t this slow, so it’s not my internet connection. Anyway, good luck Inkr team. For background, if it matters, I used to use Manga Rock and I’m currently a paying Inkr subscriber. I hope these quality control issues are addressed. I’d hate to have to cancel.
I’m disappointed…
KitsuneMew
I was a long time fan on Mange Rock, even had paid the extra money for no ads and all that… I’m not able to move my manga favorites over like promised, then even going and looking for majority of the manga I had from Manga Rock on this new app, they’re not on the app… It’s really disappointing… I don’t even want to keep paying money to keep a subscription for this app when it’s just going to make me buy coins on top of it to keep reading things. It’s not affordable in the long run… Why can’t it just be only a monthly sub? Why does it have to be a sub and then all these extra micro purchases to keep reading? It makes me not want to use the app, not because I have an issue with supporting artists or an issues paying a monthly sub. My issue is paying a monthly sub and then extra purchases on top of it, even more so when majority of the manga I wanted to read or reread aren’t available with this app. I wish you would have just KEPT the Manga Rock app, but just moved to make people pay a monthly sub for the manga and righted the wrong on that app then making a whole new app. Why make a whole new app? It seems like the developers are money hungry at this point with extra purchases on top of the sub… I don’t like the way the new app is set up and I’ll be going else where to read my manga. It’s cheaper to just buy the manga from a store and read it that way, I don’t have to worry about paying extra coins or paying for a sub on top of it and then paying again if I want to reread something I’ve already paid for in the past on the app…
