BCRM Ref is an app intended for use by professional British Columbia midwives registered with the College of Midwives of British Columbia that offers easy access to select basic information (pharmacology and action, uses, contraindications and cautions) of drugs commonly used by midwives in British Columbia, with a special focus on the designated drugs, along with common treatment algorithms and best practices for optimal medication prescribing. By sourcing information from organizations and professional bodies, such as the College of Midwives of British Columbia, the Canadian Pharmacists Association, the Society of Obstetricians Gynecologists of Canada, Health Canada, and more, this app compiles recommendations and requirements from select professional organizations to provide drug information as one of the aids to assist in decision-making in a professional midwifery practice. This pharmacology app is intended as a reference tool for clinicians and is not intended to be the sole source of drug and health information. Proper use of this tool requires awareness of your client’s clinical circumstances and needs and values, as well as familiarity with your local circumstances and standards of practice.
