exactly what I was looking for!

I have a memory loss condition and constantly feel like I'm chasing my own tail, trying to remember what I've done and where I've been. Journaling is massively helpful but it can be so tedious trying to get it all down on paper and then still having everything in so many different places. Between the calendar features, customizable templates, social media and cloud syncing, and the multitude of tagging and search capabilities, it is everything I needed. ideas for improvements: I would love a view option for "focus mode" where the only thing on my screen is the writing part. The extra features are AWESOME but being able to see them all the time while I'm writing (and so colorfully) can be a bit distracting for me. Additionally, I use Apple Activity and an apple watch for my step tracking. That would be amazing to see if possible. I'm not sure how to access that through Fitbit unless I can get the Apple watch to sync there? Haven't tried but that's all I've got!

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback and your suggestions. I will consider a focus mode for a future update. I would love to incorporate Apple Health data but Apple only allows access to that data for "Health apps". It could be possible to sync the data to Fitbit and then connect to that in Diarium though
Great, simple journaling app

I use this for my work notes. In the past I’ve always written notes for what happened in a day in a paper journal, as usually I really only need to remember what I did in a day to update folks at a daily stand up meeting the following work day. Writing everything down helps to organize my thoughts, remind me of what I did, and also helps give a sense of accomplishment for the day when everything feels like a blur by the end. The trouble with paper though, is that when you need to find something from weeks ago… there isn’t really a search feature.I was glad to find this app, as the first one I tried was not at all what I needed. The first app I downloaded seemed to want me to spend hours just making the journal pretty with fun stickers and decorations and had a million layouts - none of which were the simple format I needed. Plus that other app was subscription based that wanted you to spend anywhere from $40-$208 a year depending on which option you chose! Ridiculous! So, this app is pretty much perfect. I can add a picture if I want… but I really don’t care about that. As long as I have a dated record a bullet point list, and the ability to search I am happy.I love the simplicity of this app and the calendar sync is nice to have. The only things that would make this app even better would be A) the ability to paste without formatting and B) if there was a To Do list that could carry over from day to day. Just as a side panel or something that can be collapsed if you want it out of the way.

Thanks for your nice and extensive review. Glad you like the app.MacOS should give you the way to paste without formatting using either the context menu or the menu item. Isn't that the case for you?I also accept feature requests in the community forums, unfortunately I cannot manage them via reviews. That said, I want to keep the apps functionality close to be a journaling app only. If I started to also make it a notes/Todo/calendar app, then it only would get confusing and bloated, the simplicity that you positively highlighted yourself, would disappear :)
PERFECT JOURNAL

I just got my first MacBook ever and wanted to get into journal on here. I find writing to be physically painful lol after just a few paragraphs my hands are tired. So I tried a number of apps for my MacBook. A lot of them were great, some had TOO many features for no reason. But they all wanted monthly subscriptions. Which I really don’t understand. I just need to write and have it stored nicely. Not sure what kind of future improvements are needed for journaling to require an app to have monthly subscriptions. So that is definitely where this app is different. A single payment for the premium features. Which I don’t know yet what they are because I just got this app, wrote one entry found it to be absolutely perfect & decided to get the pro version to support the developer. I will absolutely be using this app everyday. Thank you!!

This just works… it has a few quirks but it works. From my entries it looks like I started using it in 2016. It has slowly but steadily improved with updates since then. It’s not overly fancy or bloated like most others. If you want to set it and forget it look no further this is your app. With the help of my custom templates (very useful) it has become my daily journal, ship’s log, woodsman’s logbook, travel journal, photographers journal, and a bit of a creative writers journal. Basically it is useful to say the least. I do have a few wishes like the ability to have more than one journal, also the ability to make tables in templates would be helpful and the last wish would be add blocks for text on different parts of a page (not sure what the correct term is). Thanks to the developer for working on this for so long. I am a minimalist and this checks nearly all the boxes for me.
