Know how the people you love are really doing.
Just Checking In is a private daily emotional check-in app that helps you, your family, friends, and trusted circle share how you feel, stay connected, and know when it may be time to reach out.
With one tap, let the people you choose know you’re okay without another phone call or crowded text thread. If someone suddenly stops checking in, their circle can be notified. Premium can also send a missed check-in SMS to a chosen alert contact, even if that person does not have the app.

WHO IT’S FOR
Just Checking In is designed for people living alone, families separated by distance, aging parents and the people who care about them, students away from home, veterans, close friends, and anyone building a daily emotional wellness or safety check-in routine.
It is also for the friend group that promised to check on one another more often and wants an easy way to follow through.
Just Checking In supports real human connection, emotional awareness, and peace of mind. It is not therapy, medical care, an emergency service, a safety guarantee, or a crisis line. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or crisis, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource.
Because the people who care about you shouldn’t have to wonder.
Download Just Checking In and start your first emotional check-in today.

First of all, I think that apps like this are a good way to manage your mental health and a lot of people like myself can find that useful. I like that you can check in a few times a day and write down what’s going on at the moment. I also like how you can join support circles and also include your friends into it. With that being said, i think the app can also be improved by having better interface. The check in button should be bigger and more obvious to users so they can easily tell where to go to check in. I’d also love to see new features on this app like educational resources on mental health or small to-do lists that people can do to manage their mental health.
Needs more features

The simplicity of this app is both it’s greatest strength and greatest downfall. I could easily get tired of “just checking in” daily. I like that friends and family can do it too, but why check in virtually on an app when a phone call or a FaceTime is actually way better for your mental health? I think it lacks features that would truly make it an app specializing in the mental health realm. Maybe articles by qualified individuals about various mental well-being topics. It would be nice to have a checklist of sorts, with emphasis on just completing tasks one at a time. Alerts to breathe, relax, walk outside, etc would be nice and could positively impact mental health. Also quotes based on your responses- so something encouraging when you’re happy and a sort of “I get it” when you e had just a bleh day.
Good idea! Could definitely expand features!

I think is a great idea especially in a world where people are more and more removed from each other. I couldn’t evaluate the emergency contact feature without paying to subscribe, so not sure about how that works but as more features are added that would be a good one to make part of the free subscription. I think if people are in a place where that feature is going to come in handy they may not be willing to pay to access it. I think it would be cool if it could access your phones contacts, I for one don’t have very many peoples numbers memorized so I had to switch back and forth to add people.
Good idea but not quite there

I just updated to the latest version so I hope it solves more problems. I have been testing it to see if it will work for my dad in his 70s. So far. Nope. I only get the SMS alerts to check in sometimes and for some reason they don’t alarm. I can’t quite figure out why not. And i only get one shot sometimes and then my emergency contact is notified. It also didn’t register if I logged in a few minutes late for the day and still alerted my contact. I like the idea of being about to adjust the alert time. 24 hours is good for me but maybe a 3 hour window would be better for someone older. But they need to be prompted to respond a few times, maybe with a continuous sound option like a morning alarm clock.
