The Vishnu Sahasranama, the thousand names of Vishnu, has been recited
for centuries as a way to steady the mind. It asks very little of you:
a few unhurried minutes, and your attention.
This app is built for exactly that. Press play, follow the words as
they come, and let everything else fall away.
FOLLOW ALONG, IN YOUR SCRIPT
The complete recitation, with every line timed to the audio. Read in
Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu or English transliteration, and switch
whenever you like. Choose scrolling lyrics that move with the chanting,
or one steady verse at a time.
RECITE AT YOUR OWN PACE
Slow the recitation to 0.75x, 0.5x or 0.25x and follow it word by word
while you learn it. Take it up to 1.5x or 2x when you know it well. The
pitch stays true at every speed, so the chanting never sounds hurried
or heavy.
A SCREEN THAT GETS OUT OF THE WAY
Once playback begins, the controls quietly fade until nothing sits
between you and the names. A tap anywhere brings them back. Pick the
colours that suit your eyes and the hour: System, Bright, Paper, Sepia
or Dark.
A REMINDER, AND A NAME EACH DAY
Set a time and the app will remind you to sit. Every reminder carries
one of the thousand names along with its meaning, so the whole list
unfolds slowly, one day at a time.
