Markdown writing via Mind Maps

Only for Mac

Mac

Plan it as a map, write it in Markdown — both views stay in sync as you edit. The full local app is free. Now with Cmd+Click go to definition in code files. Plan It as a Map. Write It in Markdown. Restructure by Dragging. MarkNode (formerly Document Node) is a fast, local-first Markdown editor where the mind map IS your document — edit either view and the other updates instantly. Map out an essay or thesis first, then write each section in Markdown. Outline a book, article, or course as a map, and restructure the draft by dragging nodes — the prose reorders to match. Your files are plain Markdown on your Mac, fully in your control, portable anywhere. Key Features: • Live Mind Map Editing — the map is a view of your Markdown, not a separate diagram. Type in the editor and the map updates; drag a node and the Markdown reorders. Both views stay identical, always. • Live Preview & Outline — see rendered Markdown side by side, with an outline view for quick navigation and custom preview styles to match the look you want. • Fully Customizable Themes — customize colors, shapes, line styles, and even apply conditional styling with Regex support, across the editor, mind map, and preview. • Intuitive Folder Structure — drag and drop files to keep your projects organized and accessible. • Powerful Search — Find & Replace with regex support, plus instant full-text search across your whole project. • Export & Share — turn your work into DOCX documents, PDF files, or mind map images (PNG) in one step. • Blazing Fast & Lightweight — built with Rust for unmatched performance and a smooth, efficient workflow. Free & Pro The entire local app is free for personal use — Markdown editing, live preview, outline editing, full mind map editing and customization, search, export, multiple project windows, and complete project management. No feature cap, no time limit. Upgrade to Pro — a one-time purchase, no subscription — for a commercial-use license. Pro unlocks no additional features; it's the right choice if you use MarkNode at work and want to support ongoing development with lifetime updates included. ---- Email Support: support@documentnode.io X: https://x.com/document_node Privacy Policy: https://marknode.com/privacy Terms of Service: https://marknode.com/terms EULA: https://marknode.com/eula

Go to Definition — hold Cmd (Ctrl on Windows and Linux) and click a name in a code file to jump straight to where it is defined, even in another file, or press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter with the cursor on it. Works offline for Rust, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, C and C++, and a name is only underlined when there is exactly one place it can lead, so you never land in the wrong spot. Back and Forward — a new Go menu steps back and forward through your jumps from definitions, outline clicks, Find in Files results and links: Cmd+[ and Cmd+] on macOS, Ctrl+Alt+Left and Ctrl+Alt+Right on Windows and Linux. Your Language Servers — if you already have a language server such as rust-analyzer, gopls or clangd installed, MarkNode uses it for sharper answers, even when you open MarkNode from the Dock or Finder and the server came from nvm, Homebrew or another version manager. Settings › Editor › Code Navigation shows what MarkNode found for each language, with a Check again button. The Mac App Store edition uses MarkNode's own analysis. Also: jumping to a heading, symbol or search result no longer scrolls if it is already on screen and otherwise lands it in the upper third of the editor; clicking a code outline entry puts the cursor on the symbol's name; MarkNode's project settings folder is hidden from the file tree, search and Windows File Explorer; and Git finds tools installed through Homebrew or a version manager when MarkNode is opened from the Dock. Fixes: on Windows, saving or autosaving could close the open tab and jump to another file; mind maps and outlines hid list items on new installs even though Settings showed them turned on; the Find in Files preview had oversized rows, misaligned line numbers and text you could not select; the fold arrow showed as a letter "v" on Windows; the taskbar icon was blurry on Windows; the mind map could get stuck in an error loop after editing or dragging; and on Linux the terminal and Git could pick up the app's own bundled libraries.
