Now free. Download older episodes from a show's feed, and get the ones Apple Podcasts only streams. Earlier buyers already have Pro.
Podcasts Export saves the episodes in your Apple Podcasts library as ordinary audio files you can use anywhere: a USB stick for the car, an older MP3 player, a phone that is not an iPhone, or simply a folder you keep.
Exporting the original files is free. Podcasts Export Pro, a one-time in-app purchase, adds conversion, your own file names, playlists and artwork, exporting only what is new, and downloading episodes from feeds. If you bought Podcasts Export before it became free, Pro is already yours.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Check the shows and episodes you want.
2. Choose the folders and file names, and with Pro the format.
3. Click Export. The app remembers the folder for next time.
MORE EPISODES (PRO)
• Download older episodes of a show from its public feed; they join the show's list and export like any other
• Get the episodes Apple Podcasts only streams or keeps in iCloud, so they can be exported too
• Episode numbers follow the show's own numbering, so adding older episodes never renumbers the rest
KEEP ONLY WHAT IS NEW (PRO)
Podcasts Export remembers what it has exported from each show. Shows with episodes released since your last export show a count, and those episodes are marked in the list. Turn on "Only episodes not exported before" and repeat exports pick up exactly what you are missing.
FILES THE WAY YOU WANT THEM
• Keep the original file, or with Pro convert to MP3 or AAC at the bit rate you choose
• Number episodes in the order they were published
• A folder per show, per host and show, or everything in one folder
• With Pro, build your own file names from the number, title, show, host and release date, with an example as you type
• With Pro, write an .m3u playlist for each show and save each show's artwork
• Titles and tags are carried over, so files show up properly on your device
MADE FOR REPEAT USE
• Shows with their artwork, and an episode list you can sort and search
• Check episodes with a click, a Shift-click or ⌘K, or check only the new ones
• Drag episodes to Finder to copy their files, named with their number and title
• Listen to an episode right in the app, or preview it with Quick Look
• Keep browsing while the export runs, then see what happened to each episode
• Skip files that are already at the destination, so running it again is quick
• A log lists anything that could not be exported, and why
GOOD TO KNOW
Copy-protected and subscriber-only episodes cannot be exported or downloaded. The app marks them clearly instead of failing silently.
The app reads your media library and never changes it; macOS asks for permission the first time you open it. Downloading from a feed looks up the show in Apple's podcast directory and contacts the show's feed server, only when you ask. Looking up missing show artwork is optional and stays off until you turn it on.
This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Works great- Lucky to find this gem

The Appl Store hides this app. I had to serch the internet to find it. It works great! I have POD casts I recorded 10 years ago from a talk show host who has since passed away. The files were trapped on my mac as I could not find a way to transfer them anywhere (other than brute force recording). This software found both of the POD cast folders I have and allowed me to select which files transfer. Note to the creator: you need to advertise this, it took many searches to find, and I still wasn't sure it was ment for Apple.
Fantastic Little Tool

Love this app, really helps streamline the process of archiving podcasts onto a DAC.One small request - can we get the ability to add the release date field data (YYMMDD) to the file name on export? The only thing that would make this app better for my use case is to have the transferred files not show up in strictly alphabetical order (and none of my fav podcasts do a good job with numbering…)Cheers!

Not sure why Apple does not display this App when searching for it by name. I found it as a search result using Google. In any case, super simple to use once you have downloaded any podcast in the Apple Podcast App. Great app!
Does the job

This does more than just extract the podcast files from the inscrutable dungeon Apple has hidden them in. By using the various options you can change how the title is displayed, convert what format it is saved in and by digging a little deeper in the options you can set up some details ( such as asci text format and windows style line breaks ) which are required for some car audio systems. Very helpful stuff.
Podcasts Export is now free, with Podcasts Export Pro as a one-time in-app purchase. If you bought the app before, Pro is already yours and nothing changes for you.
• More Episodes: download older episodes of a show from its public feed. They join the show's list and export like any other
• Download from Feed: episodes that Apple Podcasts only streams or keeps in iCloud can now be downloaded and exported
• Shows whose feed numbers its episodes use those numbers, so adding older ones never renumbers the rest
• A More Episodes button at the bottom of the episode list
• Fixes a crash when the details panel was open
