Markdown, included. Open a .md file and it highlights and previews as Markdown — same editor, no separate mode.
Write in Podlite markup language with a live preview.
Editor
• Smart lists — Enter continues, Tab nests, checkboxes carry over
• Code folding for =begin/=end blocks and =head sections
• Image paste and drag-drop — files save to a media folder next to your document, =picture line inserted at the cursor
• Syntax highlighting with semantic block recognition (=TITLE, =NAME, =Diagram) and v2.0 structured blocks
• Fast on large documents
• Text search (Cmd+F)
Live Preview
• Headers, images, math formulas, Mermaid diagrams, task lists, tables
• Collapsible blocks with :folded; folding for headings folds the whole section
• Automatic heading numbering with :numbered and =config preconfiguration
• =include resolves at render time and refreshes when the source file changes
• Export to HTML and PDF
Workspace
• Split view (Cmd+.) and full preview (Cmd+\)
• Session restore for cursor, scroll, fold state, view mode
• Per-file view mode persistence
• Auto-reload on disk changes, including atomic-write edits from IDEs and sync tools
• Import from Markdown

• =Mermaid — diagrams, flowcharts, sequence diagrams
• =formula — math formulas
• =picture — images and video
• =toc — table of contents
• =table, =row, =cell, =data-table — structured and CSV/TSV tables with :folded support

Podlite takes Markdown in, so Markdown files are first class here: they open,
highlight and render without a separate mode or an import step.

BUG
PunkCicada
I really like the clean and simple style of this app, but there's a major bug—it requires exiting twice every time to fully close the app.
Markdown, included.
Open a .md file and Podlite treats it as its own: the editor highlights Markdown,
the preview renders Markdown, and a double-click or a drop opens it. Markdown is
part of Podlite, so this is the same editor, not a separate mode.
Highlighting now reads the whole document instead of one line at a time. Every
markup code gets its colour, a section name reads apart from a block name you
brought in yourself, settings inside a fenced code block are coloured, and hidden
content shows as a covered strip that opens when the caret reaches it.
Also in this release:
- A block that fails to render no longer blanks the preview. It degrades to a
small placeholder and the rest of the page stays.
- Contextual links, entity codes inside inline code, and a table written inside a
cell now render.
- The =set directive is recognised.
