I needed help identifying a flower in a bouquet that we received as a gift - pretty standard bouquet. My cat chewed on some of the flowers and my fear was that one of them was a Lily, which are LETHAL to cats. I am no plant/flower expert and I wanted confirmation of whether the flower that my cat had chewed was a Lily or not. So, I download the app, scan the flower and the result comes back “Lily”. My heart sank into my stomach, rushed my cat to a Veterinarian Emergency Hospital, and prayed that by some miracle my cat would survived that death sentence that lilies are to cats. When I met with the doctor, she asked to see a picture of the flower, so I showed her… it was a tulip… A TULIP!!!! Thankfully, it meant that my cat would be perfectly fine and I’m just an overreactive pet parent, but I trusted this app! It misled me by providing wrong information on a SUPER BASIC flower. The developer and the company owe me the $150 I spent on the Vet ER and I will be sure to tell and share this story with as many friends and family as I can, so that they know that this app and the results/information DO NOT WORK/ARE WRONG.
Hey rhbfrogs! We're sad to hear about this situation and we're extremely glad your cat is okay! Even though the AI of the app has been improving a lot, there could sometimes be misidentifications. Moreover, some plants have several names, including tulips, and not all lilies are harmful to pets. Please always double check and we're sorry you got into this situation in the first place.Best regards,PlantMe Team
