DNS Security helps protect your privacy by encrypting DNS queries with DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT).
When you visit a website, HTTPS encrypts the content of your connection, but traditional DNS lookups may still be sent without encryption. These DNS requests translate domain names into IP addresses, and unencrypted queries can expose browsing activity to eavesdropping, tracking, or manipulation.
DNS Security closes this privacy gap by helping you use encrypted DNS providers. With DoH and DoT, your DNS queries are protected from interception and tampering, reducing the risk of malicious redirection, phishing, malware, and surveillance.
Key Features:
• DNS over HTTPS and DNS over TLS support
• No VPN traffic routing required
• Choose trusted providers such as Google, Cloudflare, AdGuard, and more
• Add custom DNS configurations for greater flexibility
• Enable or disable DNS settings for cellular and Wi-Fi
• Configure rules for specific Wi-Fi SSIDs
• Check current DNS status directly in the app
• Privacy-focused design: the app only manages DNS configuration and does not collect user information
DNS over HTTPS uses port 443, while DNS over TLS uses port 853.
Take control of your DNS privacy and enjoy a safer, more private browsing experience.
The Pro version includes advanced configuration tools such as custom DNS profiles, built-in profile updates, Wi-Fi SSID rules, and URL scheme support.
URL Scheme Support:
It supports custom URL schemes, allowing other apps, Shortcuts, or browsers to launch the app and apply a specific DNS configuration automatically.
Supported URL schemes:
dnsapp://switch?config=google-DOH&enableOnWifi=true&enableOnCellular=false
DNS Security Pro:
dnssecuritypro://
DNS Security:
dnssecurity://
Common Shared scheme:
dnsapp://
Some of us NextDNS users are frustrated over the fact NextDNS refuses to update their app and won’t add their DoT as an option to their app or configuration profile. This app does well to fill that void, it even includes a similar on and off button that the NextDNS app hasMy only complaints are it doesn’t offer a way to use NextDNS’s DoQ (QUIC) standard and it tracks of things like your local address. If the developer simply stopped keeping track of things like local address, I would give this a 5 star rating. I won’t penalize an app for not offering DoQ because the only way to enable DoQ on iOS is through a VPN connection since Apple doesn’t support QUIC natively on iOS yet. Still I would love to at least have the option to use QUIC.
