I love this app, the stories are good and there’s always something new to read, however, they just started this thing where you have to buy gems in addition to the subscription you pay in order to have access to certain comics, actually some of the comics they are adding gems to read are ones that I have read in the past without having to buy gems for them. I’m kinda upset this is happening and I’m worried that the only way to get comics in the future on manta will be with this gem buying in addition to the subscription, the subscription is p cheap like $12/yr but I’m already paying a subscription service now I have to buy gems on top of that for access to comics that a) I’ve already read for b) would want to read :/ I don’t like where the app is heading and I hope I’m wrong cuz I really really love this comic app 😭😭Edit: ok they explained everything in a letter to subscribers! Only certain titles are pay per episode since they are not able to have them up under contract as most comic teams tend to prefer that model. So in order to keep those accesible and provide more titles, they are adding this model. They still have titles under subscription that are available to subscribers so I’m happy about that 😮‍💨 and they want to add options for subscribers to be awarded gems and stuff so that’ll be fun! Maybe they can do an interactive quiz thing about some of the comics to earn gems or something, I can’t wait to see what they have in the works! Thank you Team Manta!! ❤️❤️❤️

Manta is awesome but recently they’ve started monetizing their novels. Not just a flat fee but the- hey we’ve created a fake currency so you can spend money for stories. Like. Every. Other. Manhwa. App. I love unlimited and would pay more in a subscription if it actually meant that the content is available for a monthly subscription price. I came here to write this review and let the people who run Manta know that if you start changing your app to become like the other, I’ll be canceling completely. Don’t nickle and dime us. Let me pay a monthly fee and give me my content, please. Thank you. ****** The developer has responded to my review with a statement that isn’t true. They state their content is open to everyone with ‘unlimited’. Either my version of Manta is broken or it costs *gems* a proprietary currency that has to be purchased with in app purchases to then unlock chapters. So in my app -which is up to date- it is requiring payment on my device to read the content.******The developer has responded again clarifying that by dating that the novels are free to continuing reading once you purchase them. I appreciate them restating this again. My original comments and reviews remain: if I pay for an app to be ‘unlimited’ then the content needs to be available for the monthly price. I am happy to pay a higher monthly rate if I had access to the novels.👍

OLD:The schedule make me crazy and waiting is never disappointing. Easy to use. Great stories and amazing art. UPDATED: I still enjoy this application, do not misunderstand me. I find it upsetting that I have to pay for both a subscription and now for gems in order to continue reading? Could you please explain how that makes sense? What is the purpose of the gems if I have paid for a year's subscription? Having been a member for some time, I am disappointed with this update.If you are referring to the buy and keep option, please do not inform me. It is a great idea, but if I wanted to purchase it, I would and there are some I would purchase... but when you subscribe to unlimited content, I should not have to worry about gems (the subscription is referred to as unlimited). Considering my current situation, I might as well return to Webtoons and the other apps. As a result, you are now on the same level as the others, if not worse. I have yet to purchase gems and don’t think I will. My unlimited subscription expires in May 2025 and I may cancel it. It was a pleasure having these wonderful stories and I may never get to finish the ones I have been reading and that saddens me but a point must be made. You can not give and take from your customers ex: “here is an unlimited subscription but in order to keep enjoying your stories you’ll need to purchase GEMS”… nah not going to work for me. Sorry Manta 5 to 3…. Bad look.

I’ve been reading the content on this app with the subscription for maybe about 2-3 years now and I’ve seen this app improve in many ways. Both in its usability and content, it’s been about half(?) a year now since they first launched their new monetization in the form of gems. There are some titles and I believe all the novels are not included with subscription. At first, this didn’t bother me too much as they’re were only a few titles that were not included and I didn’t have much interest in the novels. But now it feels like 1/3rd of new titles coming out are not included and have to be purchased separately. I understand that the main reason for this is to bring in more content and that some of these titles aren’t from Manta but borrowed from other licenses. I appreciate Manta’s efforts but honestly, I rather go back to old Manta with less content but access to all of it. Yes, it felt bad that some titles left for a reason or things got canceled and left but hey at least I was able to read it. If you are going to pay for a subscription you should have access to all your content I know that’s possible. As a start, I think at the very least most if not all of the novels should be included in the subscription. In short yes the app is fine and has a decent library and I don’t believe that Manta is terrible as it seems that they have been rather transparent about their changes. But I would rather go back to old Manta.
