The AI is optional and uses the provider YOU choose in the app: Apple Intelligence (on supported devices) or your own provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama or LM Studio. When you use a cloud provider, the selected text is sent to that provider to generate the result. No AI configured? The keyboard simply works as a normal keyboard.
