I stumbled upon this application due to necessity. I've recently begun to migrate my numerous folders of photos to modern archiving software to keep it in one place. This typically involves a suite of applications to sort, rename, index, view, etc. The problem is, many of these applications use different rules and dates which resulted in complete chaos. Some use DateOriginal from EXIF, but ignore DateDigitized (from scanned photos) and fall back on file creation date (which is usually wrong due to moving files around on drives). The result of my first pass was a complete jumbled mess of perminantly altered files. Luckily I though to backup the entire collection before moving on.In searching for a means to analyze and set the various dates on photos, I stumbled across this application which was able to do exactly what I wanted. Using it, I load in my photos month by month and analyze whehter they have DateOriginal (and adjust that date if the camera was off a bit) and then force set the creation date and modification date on the files. There are many modes of adjustment, compatability with videos shot from phones (which use their own set of internal dates separate from photos).In the end, with all my photos correctly time stamped, the import into modern applications went successfully.My only complaint is that you need to be really careful. When working with photos and videos at the same time, if you apply a DateCreated of a movie to the DateOriginal, but the photos being analyzed don't have this field, the DateOriginal of the photos is cleared. To work around this, I just work on photos and videos separately and confirm everything before applying.
