Good but needs better memory management

The software is not hard to learn. It's fairly intutive in many ways. There are many extras that make the program worth the annual subscription. However, when working on a project with quite a few effects, and edits the program will not always replay the video. Sometimes this requires quitting the program and restarting it. This is after using a memory management tool to try and reclaim some memory. There have been a few occasions where the program crashed and the report was sent to development. The recovery feature works well enough that when a crash happened I was able to recover the project. I'm sure an M1 Mac will help to stop some of the memory issues but until then I'm managing and the results are excellent.

I was really enjoying this software at first. Very intuitive to use, love all the features. I immediately paid for a subscription.However, I started having issues quickly. I will be editing a video, and files that I have uploaded will preview fine, then after adding them to the timeline, the preview screen will go black. I will close a video I am working on, reopen the file, and the video won't preview at all. Black screen. Or I will try to access files I have added to the library, and they look like they are playing, but the screen is black and the audio silent. I am on the third version of a video I am working on because I keep having these issues. I have looked for help online and tried everything that was suggested, but nothing is working. I am incredibly frustrated, especially since other users report the same issues, and there has been no solution provided. This is not minor; I literally cannot produce a video with what is going on.

Getting Used To It

It has alot of nice bells & whistles, but screws up too often during major editing. I just wasted 2.5 hours making a video (until it crashed). And don't think you can save your progress...you have to make a complete video or else risk losing pictures or sound when you go back to edit. Junk.Well maybe "Junk" was too harsh. iMovie is junk. I was just upset after losing all my progress. I downloaded the most recent update and it seems to be working better. I trust it again. It does have alot of cool options for transitions and text.

If you didn't disable the backup options in PowerDirector's Preferences > Project setting page, you can locate if there any auto-saved projects at the path accordingly and re-open the last one to continue the editing. Downloaded and used this editor because of the great reviews. Super intuitive and great editing interface.What the reviews don't say is that you have to buy the subscription for PowerDirector 365 to get rid of the huge watermark on the video. During the editing process it isn't there but when you go to produce it, it appears and cannot be moved or removed. If I had known that I would not have used PowerDirector. If you're looking for free editing software, this is not the one for you.

Super intuitive and great editing interface.What the reviews don't say is that you have to buy the subscription for PowerDirector 365 to get rid of the huge watermark on the video. During the editing process it isn't there but when you go to produce it, it appears and cannot be moved or removed. If I had known that I would not have used PowerDirector. If you're looking for free editing software, this is not the one for you.
