Since I am self-employed, I have to put together both my income and all my expenses for my tax return. I am good with computers and I was a math major and I have a logical mind, but I am now an acupuncturist. It really takes a very different Mental space to do acupuncture. At the end of the day, I find it hard to shift back to administrative work. The first quarter of every year has always felt overwhelming to me. Last few years, I’ve even been late filing my taxes. I tried FlyFin for the first time this year. It is a little confusing, I don’t find it Intuitive to know where to go to put all my information. Sometimes I go in circles. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. But the support team was responsive to help. Because my bank won’t do an entire year’s worth of info.,I had to do a combination of connecting my bank to FlyFin via Plaid and uploading PDFs. That was confusing and took a lot of auditing to make sure itwas is all in there correctly. I was assigned Varsha as my CPA. I could put my questions into the app and she replied to all of in a professional manner. my taxes were filed over two weeks before they were due! Next year will be much easier because my financial information is connected to FlyFin via secure Plaid financial platform. It is easy to keep on top of my bookkeeping, and it will automatically populate the taxes for Varsha to do next year. All for a cost less than my CPA was charging to do taxes

Overall, the app experience has been pretty great. It made categorizing expenses, really smooth and easy, especially with the way that it was able to intelligently group my expenses together so that I could bulk categorize the CPA that I was working with was excellent. The cost was better than what I have had to deal with in past years so no major complaints there.I could’ve used more clarity around the fact that the standard paid account does not include partnership type LLCs. It’s not that it was hidden information. It just wasn’t extremely obvious and so I ended up getting hit by an extra expense that I wasn’t expecting.But overall, I think my biggest complaint is with the UX and the way that it makes it difficult to navigate to which documents you have or haven’t uploaded which expenses have or haven’t been submitted. It’s tough to find my way around, and I found myself largely dependent on the messaging system with the CPA to help me locate the correct places in the app to do the work that needed to be done.

The FlyFin App and Team have proven to be invaluable to me. The app has made identifying and classifying deductions a breeze. Setting aside just 15 minutes once a week to review and classify my expenses gives me peace of mind that I am properly planning for my quarterly tax bills. And if I have any questions, I know I can reach the team via the app and they are quick to answer. And if it’s an issue that can’t be handled within the app, they have been generous enough to schedule time to discuss via a call. I am definitely upgrading to their top product as I know they will be responsive and helpful anytime I need to jump on a call to discuss an issue. They were a god send the night before 2023 Q4 taxes were due when I realized just two hours before the deadline that I may have underpaid. They were quick to help me double check after sending an email at 9pm and made sure I had all the information I needed and double checked everything so I could feel confident with my tax liability amount given the changes to the penalties and fees for 2024.
