The Where tab is now integrated with Apple Maps which will allow eclipse location planning without leaving the App. As of this version only the August 26 has limits marked, but version 2.1 will include limits for future eclipses User input and display has been completely redesigned to make it easier to use for non eng_US customers. Date and time displays use the Region configuration. All input numbers are in regional formatting. The program still allows signed numbers (now in local format)to be pasted when in degree mode The prediction engine is identical to the previously released version and was rechecked for the summer 26 eclipse. Note that due to updates in the user interface, this program now requires iOS 26 (and also runs on iOS 27). Users without these systems should be offered version 1.8, which contains the same prediction engine but requires en_US data entry formats.

Fix a bug with display in dark mode Change the ΔT for the eclipses from 2016 to Apr 2023 to reflect the actual measured values. The program will now display correct predictions for these. Eclipses prior to 2016 follow the historical trend.

Update ΔT to June USNO value

One of the parameters used by the predictions in this program is ΔT (aka TT-UT) which models irregularities in Earth’s rotation. Before 2019 this changed at a fairly constant rate; however, in 2019 this value stopped growing which threw off calculations based on the historical record. In this version the values for Eclipses in 2023 and 2024 are based on measurements of ΔT by the US Naval Observatory. With this change this program’s predictions exactly match my own event measurements for the April 2023 eclipse. Since this value now requires close monitoring, the program will flag when the value is greater than 6 months old for any near term eclipse (as it does in the sample screenshot). I plan to issue other updates when the July 2023 (for Oct 23) and January 2024 (for Apr 24) numbers are published.

Version 1.2 will allow the user to drop a pin on Apple Maps (or Google Maps on iOS®) and have EclipseTimesCalc give you the conditions at this location. The video in the documentation provides a demonstration, but the process is easy. Select the coordinates in the Map program. Press copy. Switch to EclipseTimesCalc in either Lat or Long. Both will be replaced along with NS and EW with the coordinates you pasted. Sometimes the source of the coordinates might be something other than a map app. For example, you might be copying from a browser version of a map. This version will also allow you to paste a signed number to replace either the lat or long. Paste is only supported in Degree Mode
