more V6 update: Can’t believe it keeps getting easier and more intuitive. Just made a poster of 35 images by droping them into the Tiles template — the tiling was perfect first time — no tweaks needed!Comment of 2023: This app keeps getting better, and is now by far the best poster maker. It enables you to easily and intuitively set poster size, dpi, photo borders and poster margins. It automagically makes an attractive tiled poster of any number of images, and supports sorting the photos in a variety of ways, including by filename, so you can establish whatever sequence you want in your photo management software (like Lightroom) and maintain that sequence in Posterino. This is very important in large posters with hundreds of photos. Finally, it is very easy and intuitive to pan/zoom individual photos within the Posterino defined frames. I've done many posters as gifts for friends and family over the last 18 years using several applications. I recently made a poster image for printing on a 50x60 inch blanket which my mother loved! The poster making experience was a true delight and I was able to make a great poster quickly, beating the midnight deadline for 50% off of the blanket!
Developer Response V6: I'm really happy to hear that my rework of the Tile layout struck a chord! :) Reply from 2023: Thank you so much for this wonderful review and your incredibly kind words! You are really making good use of Posterino! Personally, I also love creating gifts. I'm really happy to have such loyal friends of Posterino.

I have been using Posterino to create some posters for Xmas presents for this year and it has stimulated a lot of idea for things I can do with it. I use it mostly for printing larger posters (think 11 x 14/17) for display, but just looking at the different options gives me even more ideas. I like that it is customizable and flexible. I can use it and let the program move things around or I can explicitly place certain photos in certain places for emphasis. The developer is very responsive and is always trying to make a good product even better. Thanks!
Developer Response Thank you so much for this wonderful review! I’m delighted to hear that Posterino has sparked new ideas for your holiday projects — that’s exactly what I hope it will do. And thank you as well for your kind words about my work. :)

to create so many different styles and pull from your photo files to really customize. Developer is constantly paying attention, fixing little bugs that make a big difference to ease of use. It’s a breeze to pull a collection of photos together to tell a story, whether for gifting or promotional materials. Simple or sophisticated, Posterino’s layouts make light work, far more easily and faster than the tedium of the many design/layout programs we all own.

I have been using Posterino for several years now. It is an app that has a number of great templates to make calendars, postcards, collages and more - I mostly make calendars but also greetings cards etc. There are many options for formatting, tweaking and making your project into what you want. There are frequent updates to deal with occasional glitches that crop up (hence my 4 stars not 5 stars). Christophe at Zykloid (responsible for the app) is quick to respond if you send him a request for help or if you finds a glitch that should be fixed. Fun and useful.
Developer Response Thanks a lot for being a loyal friend of Posterino, Nicolas. I’m delighted that you appreciate the built-in templates and the flexibility they offer. And I truly appreciate the personal compliment you gave me! Cheers, Christoph :)

__FIXES__
* When using a mouse, scroll bars in the document canvas now correctly appear and disappear based on the current zoom level.
* Fixed a case where both scroll bars would appear even when only one was needed.
* Fixed an issue where Posterino could become confused about the current object selection state.

6.4.2 2d ago
__NEW__
* The crop interaction now shows the full bounding rectangle of the image, giving you a clearer sense of its actual dimensions.
* The Reset action in the crop interaction is now context-aware: when entering crop mode, it resets the image just like the Reset Images command. After adjusting the crop, it resets back to the state at the start of the crop interaction.
* You can now paste images directly from the clipboard. If image frames are selected, the pasted images replace their current contents.
__FIXES__
* The crop interaction now ensures that moving or rotating an image always keeps the image frame fully covered, including edges and corners.
* Improved the Tile layout algorithm to favor filling rows with images over preserving their resolution. This may increase the chance of a resolution warning.
* The crop interaction now closes automatically when shuffling the layout, switching layouts, or performing other layout-changing actions.
* Fixed a potential crash when positioning or resizing images in the Square-Grid layout.
* Improved app stability when display capability information is unavailable.

6.4.1 Jun 17
This release brings a major update to manual image cropping. I reworked the crop interaction so it now happens directly on the Canvas, right where your image already lives. Double-click an image, adjust the crop in place, use the new guide overlays for better composition, and confirm when it looks right.
I also spent extra time on Mosaic-Crop. When a single image spans multiple frames, Posterino can now move and zoom the selected crop as one connected composition. This makes Mosaic-Crop feel much more direct: the mosaic stays intact while you fine-tune the part of the image that should appear across all frames.
__NEW__
* Added a new in-place crop interaction. Double-click an image to crop it directly on the Canvas, without switching to a separate crop editor.
* Added crop guide overlays for Rule of Thirds, Diagonals, Golden Ratio, and Center Lines.
* Added shared crop editing for Mosaic-Crop. Select the images that form the mosaic, double-click one of them, then move and zoom the shared image crop while the Mosaic-Crop stays intact.
* Added an option to hide the individual crop state indicator on images.
__FIXES__
* User guide search results now open the correct articles.
* Frame, background, and text styles now reliably appear when Posterino restores a project at launch.
* Applying Mosaic-Crop now resets existing image rotation so the mosaic aligns correctly.

6.3.7 May 16
__FIXES__
* When using Pixels as the page unit, Posterino now defaults to 72 DPI and consistently enforces this value throughout the app. You can scale pixel-based documents during export (1×, 2×, 3×, 4×) to increase output detail.
* When an image uses Custom Auto-Crop mode, the Fine-Tuning controls are now always visible.

__CHANGES__
* Folder-based image collections now use the first image as their key image.
* If an image folder no longer exists, you can now remove or reconnect the folder reference.
* Images in an image folder are now sorted by file creation date.
* Refined the thumbnail selection appearance in the image browser for a cleaner, clearer highlight.
__FIXES__
* Media browser albums and folders no longer “fall” in from the top when reopening a folder.
* Media browser collections no longer lose their key image when the order of albums changes in Photos.
* The image browser now shows a proper placeholder in Light Mode while thumbnails are still loading.
* Thumbnail loading from image folders is now more responsive by actively cancelling tasks that are no longer needed.
* Fixed a possible crash during background processing of document previews.
* Locked various calendar components in place so they don’t shift around when images are re-laid out.

* Fixed a possible crash when an OS color picker was open.
* Locked several calendar objects in templates so they stay fixed when the layout changes.
6.2.1 Jan 4
This release brings a major update to the Manual layout. I reworked how objects move, resize, and align, and added a fresh set of alignment guides. Switching into the Manual layout is now smoother and more intuitive. I’m very happy with how this update turned out.
__CHANGES__
* Reworked object movement and resizing in the Manual layout, introducing more natural interactions and improved precision.
* Added new alignment guides that snap to pages, margins, neighboring graphic objects, and the spacing properties of the Manual layout.
* When switching from a Grid or Tile layout to the Manual layout, Posterino now automatically adopts matching spacing values for a smoother transition.
__NEW__

__FIXES__
* Resolved an issue that prevented objects from moving correctly via keyboard arrows in Manual layout mode.
* Fixed a regression in the Square-Grid layout where dropping images onto all placement areas (and the background) stopped working.

POSTERINO 6
With macOS 26 Apple introduces Liquid Glass—a visual language that blends translucency, depth, and focus across all its platforms. Posterino 6.0 embraces this design shift head-on. With Liquid Glass, controls gracefully step into the background, giving your creations more breathing room while keeping tools at hand when you need them. The result: a lighter, more refined Posterino that lets your art shine through.
__A FRESHER LOOK & FEEL__
* Document window redesign: Toolbars, sidebars, and split views now adapt to Liquid Glass, creating a softer, more immersive workspace.
* Canvas overlays: Zoom controls and layout actions like Scale Up and Scale Down are now integrated directly into the canvas, appearing only when relevant (e.g. Square-Grid layouts).
* Inline Inspector polish: Fully re-styled for macOS 26 with Liquid Glass, including improvements for better readability on light and dark backgrounds.
* Template picker refresh: The picker now shines in Liquid Glass and presents resolution warnings more clearly.
__STREAMLINED WORKFLOW__
* Cleaner main menu: Updated to align with Apple’s latest Human Interface Guidelines.
* Smarter paper handling: Posterino now checks printer paper vs. document size when exporting, helping you avoid surprises before hitting “Print.”
* Focused media browser: After dropping a folder of images, the media browser now relinquishes focus automatically so you can continue working without interruptions.
__FINE-TUNING & FIXES__
* The selection and manipulation of graphic objects has been refined: the highlight now appears lighter, the frame handles are more elegant, and handles are shown only when an object is selected rather than when hovering over it.
* Manual layout improvements: Image drops now land where you expect them—close to the mouse pointer or properly at the origin if another image is already placed.
* Keyboard shortcuts: Layout switching no longer conflicts with system screenshot commands.
