Finamp is a free Jellyfin music player. It allows you to stream and download the music you own. It has a modern but thought-through design, a ton of features, is customizable, and respects your privacy! You need access to a Jellyfin server (https://jellyfin.org) or you won't be able to use Finamp at all! The mobile app on previous versions was very simplistic, loved the basic layout. Now they have drastically changed it and at first I missed the simplicity. But as I used it more, it is crazy how much they've added. And the amount of features seriously make it feel like I'm not missing anything the major streaming services have. The way it displays the album and music artist information with small artist icons. They've really put a lot into this.You are no longer limited to downloading albums or playlists for offline playback. You can download individual songs, but when looking at the album offline it will show other soundtracks from the same album greyed out. Great in case you forget to download one of the other songs from the same album. More options for formats and codecs when downloading. If you want flac for no compromises in offline playback, go ahead. As time goes on and I use it more. The more I love using. Definitely one of the biggest upgrades/improvements I've seen in a mobile app for years. Some customizable options for UI would be the biggest cherry on top. I very much recommend it.

EDITED - This app did have instant mixes, the random playlist feature I thought it didn’t have! Unedited -I tried to use the native jellyfin app to stream music but I found that jellyfin stops playing the music as soon as I leave the app. Major dealbreaker! Good thing this app exists. I love the new UI change in the beta. Though I would love a feature to auto populate a playlist randomly or based on listening history. At least I saw that jellyfin can create a playlist randomly.

So right off the bat, I commend the team for this side application which I didn’t know I needed before, but fits its singular purpose well. It does all the basic things you would expect an app like this to do.There’s just a couple of issues that make this hard to recommend. First, The downloads do not work that well. They do work, but if you queue up a lot of downloads (say, an album of 100 tracks), the app will go into suspend/sleep mode before it finishes, causing the downloads to fail.Second, and this is a dealbreaker for me, it doesn’t save audio progress position between sessions. If the app hibernates or you close it, you lose any media progress you had. While that’s not a huge deal for music, it absolutely cripples audiobook functionality.And finally, the app tends to misbehave (become unresponsive) if left suspended/hibernating too long, requiring a force close. Annoying, but not a big issue (unless coupled with the aforementioned audiobook issue)

Thanks for the feedback!- I'm working on a rewrite of the download system which should be much more reliable, and will also allow stuff like artists in offline mode- Saving progress is a popular feature request, I should really look into it- I'll look out for buggy behaviour in long sessions, it's pretty stable for me but I've never explicitly tested it
