So many pantry organization apps didn’t have what I was looking for. This app looks simple and actually functions relatively simply. I can use a barcode to scan items, manually add items, easily edit item names, and easily add/remove item without having to click multiple times just to edit the item. I can have multiple locations (ex. Fridge, freezer, pantry) but within that categorize by item type so it’s not a mess of items. When you use an item up it does not remove it, rather crosses it off so you know you need more! This is meant to reduce food waste but it’s great it doesn’t force you to add an expiration date. So many other apps pick a random incorrect date that takes time to manually edit. Let’s see how it works in reality, but it’s promising and has the features I was looking for!
Stocktaking, rebuilt
Stocktaking is no longer a search but a list you work through, with an overview of everything still open. When an item has several best-before dates, Smantry asks which group you are holding. And when you take something out, you say why: used up or thrown away.
Minimum stock at a glance
The "below minimum stock" filter shows in one move what needs buying again. You can set minimum levels per category, and the German civil protection agency's supply table comes ready as a template, scaled to people and days.
Faster day to day
The barcode scanner now uses the full camera image with the controls floating above it. Loading states show the shape of the list instead of a spinner. Search, sorting and filters share one bar, the item count is back above the list, and the add button is larger.
Help that answers back
In the support chat you can now rate an answer with a thumb, and links in messages open directly.
