Create, paint, save, and share cellular automata worlds with rulestrings, gradients, and multilingual help.
Tiamat turns cellular automata into a creative, relaxing sandbox for patterns, rules, colors, and discovery.
Build living worlds from simple rules, then watch order, chaos, gliders, oscillators, and unexpected structures emerge. Start with familiar Game of Life-style behavior, import or export rulestrings, tune simulation speed, paint directly on the field, and save the fields, rules, gradients, and patterns you want to revisit.
What you can do in Tiamat:
- Explore Conway-like cellular automata with wrapped, borderless fields.
- Create, edit, save, import, and share rules with BS, SB, and HROT rulestring support.
- Paint cells by hand, place saved patterns, or generate random fields.
- Customize gradients and fading to make simulations easier to read and more beautiful to watch.
- Save favorite worlds, layers, rules, colors, and patterns for later experiments.
- Learn cellular automata concepts with built-in help and changelog articles.
Whether you are studying emergent systems, looking for generative art inspiration, or just want a calm mathematical sandbox, Tiamat gives you precise controls without getting in the way.
This program truly goes above and beyond with its ui and features. Once you read the help guide making custom rulesets is a snap! Customizable color palettes, fade speeds, zooming is easy, drawing is easy too, everything about this program is so user-friendly which goes way beyond other programs’ heights. Also nothing is blocked behind a paywall. The in-app purchases is really just a donate button. It’d be kinda cool if there was some ‘turbo mode’ or something to make the program run at hyper-speed, but I understand that could be hard for some devices to handle.
Developer Response
Thank you for your valuable feedback! Your words are truly motivating and encourage us to keep enhancing our app.Regarding the "turbo-mode" feature, we face some limitations due to hardware constraints. We've pushed the hardware to its limits, but this has occasionally resulted in throttling and decreased performance. We appreciate your understanding.
Awesome!

I absolutely love this, I’ve been trying to find an app like this and this one works perfectly for that. I have a suggestion for a new feature though, the ability to have multiple different types of cells, with different rules I think would be a great improvement (:
Developer Response
That’s a great idea! Thank you, I’ll add it to my todo list (:
Requests for features
Zombie Jombie
I have some requests, please add the ability to make your own rules, add a way to control size of saved patterns as 2x, 4x the original etc, an undo button, a button for screen capturing, and for screen recording, love the app thank you :)
Developer Response
Hey Zombie Jombie, thanks for the great rating and the feedback regarding what you'd like to see. We'd love to hear more about what improvements you're envisioning. If you have time, please shoot us an email at connect@latooksoftware.comThanks again for trying out Tiamat, and for the review!
Rulestring imports
TheSpawnDude
I want a feature to be added to the app where you can import specific rulestrings in the birth/survival format, the survival/birth format and more rulestring formats as well as allowing Generations rules (rules with more than 2 cell states) to be implemented. Thanks for reading this.
Developer Response
Thank for your feedback. Currently we’re working on improving UX. After that we’re going to start implementing features requested by community. To stay in touch you could join our Discord server (the link in help)
Added French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese localization.
