*1. Video saving is now fast and doesn't get lost* •⁠ ⁠*No more waiting after you record.* When a user taps Save or Send, the app goes straight back to the feed. The heavy work of compressing the video now happens quietly in the background. •⁠ ⁠*Processing is about 5x faster, and files are about 75% smaller.* The app shrinks the video before it mirrors the selfie view, and it uses the iPhone's graphics chip to do the work. Uploads finish sooner and use less data. •⁠ ⁠*Videos survive the app being closed.* Each processing job is written to the phone's storage. If the user force-quits the app, or the phone pauses it, the job picks up where it left off. •⁠ ⁠*A safety net for failed compression.* If compression fails three times, the app uploads the original uncompressed video instead. A recording is never lost. •⁠ ⁠*Android no longer deletes recordings.* Android sometimes clears temporary storage to free up space. New recordings are now moved somewhere safe straight away so the system can't wipe them. *2. Smoother sign-in and profile setup* •⁠ ⁠Email/password, Google and Apple sign-in now all go through one shared login process (built on AWS Cognito). •⁠ ⁠After login, the app checks whether the user has finished their profile. New users go straight to "Set Up Profile", and existing users go straight to Home. This fixes the bug where people got stuck going round in login loops. *3. Links now open the app* •⁠ ⁠When someone taps a Qcast link (handled by a service called Branch.io), Android now opens the app directly instead of the Chrome browser. •⁠ ⁠The app also has a backup setting so the link system always starts up, even if a build is missing its configuration. *4. Live unread message count* •⁠ ⁠The red badge on the Messages tab now updates in real time as messages come in or get read. *5. Backend (server) improvements* •⁠ ⁠*Long lists load in pages.* Groups, Q-series, Qcasts, responders and interview threads now load a page at a time, which is faster and better on large accounts. •⁠ ⁠*Transcripts are timestamped.* Each transcript is split by question, with exact start and end times. This makes it possible to jump to a specific answer and supports analytics later. •⁠ ⁠*One-step profile updates.* Users can update their profile details and banner image in one go. •⁠ ⁠*Database upgrades.* New database fields were added for workspaces, group showcases and Q-series links. *6. Permissions and small fixes* •⁠ ⁠*Android photo and video access fixed.* Access to photos and videos is working again on newer Android versions (13–16). •⁠ ⁠*Storage tools for troubleshooting.* Settings → About Qcast now lets any user view the app's stored files and clear its cache. This is handy for support calls. •⁠ ⁠*Layout fix on small phones.* The About page now scrolls, so content no longer gets cut off on small screens. *In short:* recording and sending videos is faster and much more reliable, sign-in is simpler, links and notifications behave as users expect, and the backend is ready for larger accounts and richer analytics.

What's in it: • Replace this answer: ◦ It now uses the same studio screen as Record Response: two circles, the question plays automatically, and there's a 5-second countdown. ◦ The take plays back from the start of your answer, the buttons no longer overlap, and the response shows an upload bar. ◦ The start of the new answer is no longer cut off. • White screen fix: after a replaced answer saves, the page now reloads cleanly, with no blank circle and no old audio playing. • Duplicate responses fix: the upload queue now waits for the final save to finish and checks with the server before sending a response again. Nothing is deleted until the server confirms the upload. The automatic cleanup that deleted recordings older than 15 minutes is removed, and the manual clean-ups skip anything still waiting to upload. • A Qcast or response is never sent with videos missing; it stays on the phone and in the waiting list instead. • The upload queue records the staged r1, r2… files instead of the raw camera files, and older queue entries repair themselves. • A flipped video that comes out cut short is detected and flipped again. A second publish of the same Qcast is blocked. • Each answer is attached to its own question; before, a skipped question could shift later answers onto the wrong question. • Upload Progress shows only r1, r2… files and closes by itself when finished. Recording a Qcast • Fixed the iOS "Video file is not being recorded, try recording a longer video" error, and the loop where the video couldn't be ended. • Next starts the 5-second countdown automatically. Done finishes after any number of questions, including one. • Double taps and leftover 60-second timers no longer skip questions. • The sound wave on the record screen is removed. • The number of questions follows the workspace's plan (Basic 3, Pro 7, Organisation 12). • Publish greys out, shows "Thank you… being published", and then takes you home while the upload continues. • Each question's prompt text is saved, so new Qcasts show their questions in the player. Your Qcasts • Move to draft and Make private added to your Qcast menu. • Deleting a Qcast that has responses makes it private instead, and the app says so. • The menu opens upwards when there isn't room below it, so Delete is always visible. • The delete popup fits its buttons. Player • Skipping between questions keeps playing if you had already pressed play. • Transcripts show again. • "Run this Qcast at an event" is removed. Messenger • Sends the login token when the chat connection opens (needed with the server fix). • The send button works again. • The unread badge ignores your own messages. • The bell opens Notifications, and search filters your conversations. • Removed the unfinished Request tab, the Qcast and Links tabs, the ⋮ button and the paperclip. Other • Recent Qcasters show the date each person joined, newest first. • The profile banner is cropped to its top third. • Haptic feedback on buttons, with a switch in Settings → About Qcast. • An on-phone log of uploads, chat and failed API calls, for diagnosing problems

Qcast 1.10.1: what's new Sign-in and profile setup • New accounts created with Google or Apple sign-in now work first time. • If your profile isn't finished, you'll be taken to Set Up Profile before the home screen. A profile name is required; the photo is optional. • Clearer messages if your sign-in has expired, your email isn't verified, or there's no connection, with an option to try again. • Fixed: the Sign In button sometimes did nothing after entering a password (especially with saved/autofilled passwords). • Cancelling Google or Apple sign-in no longer shows an error. • For security, passwords are no longer stored on the device. Switching to another saved account now asks you to sign in to that account. Events: separate responses for each event • A Qcast can now be reused at different events, with each event keeping its own responses. • On your own Qcast, the Responders section has an Event picker. It shows the responses and count for one event, or "All responses (all events)". • You can create a new event and choose which event new responses recorded on this device are saved to. • Replies stay with the event of the response they reply to. • If a response can't be saved to its event, you'll see a message and the recording stays on your device.
