Namaste Pay is a new mobile wallet in Nepal brought by Nepal Digital Payments Company (NDPC). NDPC is a joint endeavor between Nepal Telecom and Rastriya Banijya Bank, the leading public enterprises of Nepal in telecom and banking sector respectively. The Namaste Pay wallet service shall work over various channels including smart phone applications, USSD and web portal. Initially, the wallet shall provide cash-in, cash-out, peer-to-peer transfers and a few utilities including telecom recharge, electricity bill payment and water bill payment. More services including the following shall be added in forthcoming releases:
Bank Account Integration: Option of over 9+ banks and growing. For loading money to wallet or sending money from the wallet to bank account.
Cash-In: Load your wallet directly through mobile banking, debit card/credit card or through our authorized agent.
Cash-Out: Quick transfer the wallet money to your bank account or convert your wallet balance to cash in your pocket through nearby agent.
Wallet to wallet transfer:
Now you can send money fast and easy to other wallets. It's never been easier to send/receive money to friends and family.
Utilities Payment:
Telecom service top-up or internet bill payment in just few clicks.
Pay bills for other utility services such as Water, Electricity, DTH etc. right from your mobile so why stand in queue. More services shall be added in the coming days.
Merchant Payments:
Pay various online and offline merchants. Book movie tickets, flight tickets, bus tickets. Pay for medical services. Eat out at restaurants, buy groceries, do shopping or even pay for cup of tea. Namaste Pay shall be accepted in thousands of shops and outlets across Nepal.
Government Payment:
Paying taxes and fees to government or receiving allowances from government, all made hassle free and quick like never before.
Educational Institute:
Pay school, college, university and professional institutions' fees instantly without any hurdle.
Namaste. Its unable to add/link Bank Account, always pop-up with message “Something went wrong, try again after sometime “. Till then, its useless. I hope, it gonna fix out and also there will be many others banks list available to add.

Cannot add money, useless app

1. Under “mobile app” option to add money, the dropdown that is supposed to show the list of supported banks does not work. You have click it several times in quick succession to see the list. Then you have no choice but to select your bank again and again on this list that keeps refreshing (up to the same number of times you had to click the dropdown)! This seems like a bad game feature the developer put in place although I’m sure the requirements didn’t have it. 2. After that weird process above, I see my selected bank appear on the dropdown under mobile banking. Clicking continue button prompts you to enter 4 digit PIN. I enter my PIN for this app (by the way this app signs you in with your mobile number and a 4 digit PIN) and click Verify. Error occurs saying something to the effect of bank account is not valid!! Shame on NTC and Rastriya Banijya Bank, two of the biggest governmental entities, for not managing this app project well. They can’t even put a simple QA in place to detect and fix the simplest types of bugs before even thinking about deploying this broken app to the App Store. We are not even talking about hiring ethical hackers to find and fix subtle bugs here. Very disappointing!

This Payment app has one of the most unique feature here (offline payment) and i am totally fascinated from this idea but this app lags many things. What if Namaste Pay ties up will all those “DIGITAL WALLETS” of Nepal and make a network? i mean what if we are able to send money from Namaste Pay to eSewa, Khalti and other popular payment app ? this is what i have had been thinking hope you got me. Please take this a suggestion and let us know if you will bring such features on upcoming updates ‘upcoming in the sense of coming soon not like after 5-10 years’. ani if thing is about bug fixing and vulnerabilities why don’t you use platforms like Bugv or hire group of ethical hackers to find bugs for you? lets try this once lets make a change let the change come for you guys. Hoping for a positive reply.

As for the inter-operability of the app where in a network of digital wallets will work together, that functionality will may take a bit of time (as the reliability also lies with other wallets), but we can confidently say that this future is not that far!!!.
