In addition to regularly scheduled live newscasts and other WGN programing, the app features live breaking news and in-depth coverage, clips of the day's top stories, a browsable archive and other WGN-TV+ exclusives. WGN-TV's call letters are derived from the Chicago Tribune’s first slogan, “World’s Greatest Newspaper.”Chicago has turned to WGN for sports, news, entertainment, and weather since hitting the airwaves on April 5, 1948 on Channel 9 from its studios at Tribune Tower.
