I use this app on my mac Air and iMac instead of Finder. The only detail I’d like to change is the folder with pictures arranges pictures based on how arranged your stuff in a folder it’s inside. Let’s say you have a folder 2022 and inside you keep a neat list of folders arranged by date. So inside each of these folders your images will be as a list as well, instead of icons. And also It’d be nice to change icons’ size.

Intuitive File Explorer Replacement

After decade using Windows I got tired of watching spinning dots while waiting for my PC to wake up. So I bought a MacBook Air. I didn’t realize how different it would be. I managed to learn what I need to get by. The Finder was the one thing I couldn’t live with. I tried a few other apps, but they were just marginally better versions of Finder. Then I found Folders File Manager. This is the closest thing to Windows File Explorer I’ve found. It has the familiar tree view on the left pane and the file/folder pane on the right that acts just like File Explorer. Finally something familiar. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and it works well. It’s fast and intuitive.Not yet too familiar with MacOS, I had a question about some of my folders not showing up. I submitted a question to the developer. Within about hour I received a very detailed explanation and instructions on how to fix my issue. My fault, I had restricted its access. If you’re coming from Windows or work with both, I recommend Folders. Great product and great support. Can't beat that!

For a migrant from Windows to MacBook, the default Finder app is a horrible, barely usable app for accessing files. After switching to Folders, I feel like I am back from a desert or jungle where impossible obstacles were around every turn.Folders is much friendlier to Windows users while looking like a MacBook app. It has simple options to create new empty text file, rename folders in Favorites, copy and edit current path.I can’t believe that Apple user base tolerates Finder.Folders was worth every penny.
Very Similar to Windows Explorer Experience

Headline the Folders app is FANTASTIC for my use!! I previously gave up on using MacBook Air in 2012 because coming from a Windows OS the Finder in Mac was archaic, frustrating and useless for me. Fast forward to today, I decided to try the Mac iOS again with a MacBook Air 2025 M4 version. I found the Folders app in the Apple Store and this will probably be the app that makes me want to keep using my new MacBook Air. Thankful for someone having the vision to see the need and solve the issue.

• In the Open With menu, a new option to add a manually selected app for all file types
