Intuitive File Explorer Replacement
X-Windower
After decade using Windows I got tired of watching spinning dots while waiting for my PC to wake up. So I bought a MacBook Air. I didn’t realize how different it would be. I managed to learn what I need to get by. The Finder was the one thing I couldn’t live with. I tried a few other apps, but they were just marginally better versions of Finder. Then I found Folders File Manager. This is the closest thing to Windows File Explorer I’ve found. It has the familiar tree view on the left pane and the file/folder pane on the right that acts just like File Explorer. Finally something familiar. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and it works well. It’s fast and intuitive. Not yet too familiar with MacOS, I had a question about some of my folders not showing up. I submitted a question to the developer. Within about hour I received a very detailed explanation and instructions on how to fix my issue. My fault, I had restricted its access. If you’re coming from Windows or work with both, I recommend Folders. Great product and great support. Can't beat that!
Very Similar to Windows Explorer Experience

Headline the Folders app is FANTASTIC for my use!! I previously gave up on using MacBook Air in 2012 because coming from a Windows OS the Finder in Mac was archaic, frustrating and useless for me. Fast forward to today, I decided to try the Mac iOS again with a MacBook Air 2025 M4 version. I found the Folders app in the Apple Store and this will probably be the app that makes me want to keep using my new MacBook Air. Thankful for someone having the vision to see the need and solve the issue.
Like the MS Explorer Style

Folder File Manager for Mac provides a familiar MS Explorer like view for Mac UsersI looked for that for a while and with the free trial and reasonable price it was a no brainer. The "Folder File Manager" app offers a refreshing solution for Mac users who prefer a traditional, Microsoft File Explorer-like folder hierarchy. It displays your Mac's directory structure clearly on the left panel, enabling intuitive navigation, expansion, and collapse of folders. This streamlines file management, making it efficient and familiar for those accustomed to a hierarchical view.
Updated Review - Great progress on development!

Almost a year ago I purchased this app and found that it wasn’t stable and basic features were missing “as an Explorer replacement”. I am very impressed with how far this has come. It is certainly much faster and more stable. Good features have been added. It is still not a 1 to 1 replacement for Explorer but this is certainly worth trying for anyone coming from a Windows environment! Kudos to the developers!
