Cookie DNT gives you per-site control over cookies in Safari — block, clear, and manage tracking cookies automatically, on exactly the sites you choose.
Safari's built-in cookie settings are all-or-nothing. Cookie DNT fills the gap: install it as a Safari extension and decide per site whether cookies get stored or wiped. You stay in control without thinking about it.
HOW IT WORKS
Cookie DNT runs entirely on your device. When you visit a site, the extension checks your rules and automatically clears cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB. No data is sent to any server. No account. No subscription.
A note on the permission prompt: Safari requires all extensions to request access to websites in order to function — this is Apple's standard requirement, not specific to Cookie DNT. The dialog that says "can access browsing history" is Apple's generic wording for this permission; it simply means the extension can see which site you're on so it can apply your rules. Nothing leaves your device. You can verify this yourself: check Settings → Privacy & Security → App Privacy Report and you will find zero outbound connections from Cookie DNT, unless you opt into the optional cookie blocklist described below.
TWO BLOCKING MODES
Selective mode — the default. Cookies are allowed everywhere until you decide otherwise. Toggle individual sites on or off directly from the extension popup as you browse. Use this if you want targeted cookie clearing without affecting your general browsing.
Block All mode — cookies are blocked everywhere by default. Add trusted sites to your whitelist to allow cookies only where you need them. This is the strongest setting and works well for users who want automatic cookie deletion across the web with minimal ongoing management.

PRIVACY
Cookie DNT collects nothing. All processing happens on your device. The app has no server and sends no analytics.
If you enable the optional cookie blocklist in Settings, the app makes one outbound request to download the list. No personal data is included — it is a plain file download. This feature is off by default.
LIMITATION
HTTPOnly cookies cannot be deleted by Safari extensions. This is a Safari security restriction that applies to all third-party extensions, not specific to Cookie DNT.
I’ve been looking for this kind of functionality in Safari for a long time, so I’m glad someone finally built it. The ability to selectively and automatically block cookies from specific websites is incredibly useful. I especially appreciate the option to block all cookies while whitelisting only the sites you want to allow.That said, getting this to work smoothly with sign-in–heavy services like Gmail (and other sites that rely on multiple domains) can be tricky. The app clearly has a lot of power, but it would really benefit from clearer documentation and step-by-step guidance explaining how it works and how to configure it effectively. Right now, the changelog is the main way to understand how features have evolved, which isn’t ideal for new users.With better user-facing documentation, this would easily be a five-star app. I’m excited to see how it continues to evolve alongside changing web and privacy technologies.

This extension does exactly what it claims and does it cleanly. Cookie DNT Privacy for Safari works by enforcing Do Not Track rules at the browser level and automatically blocking or deleting cookies on a per site basis instead of relying on Safari’s blunt global settings. You decide which sites can store cookies and which get wiped the moment you close the tab or page.It runs quietly in the background with no popups, no dashboards to babysit, and no broken websites. Once configured, it continuously removes tracking cookies, limits cross site tracking, and keeps Safari sessions clean without slowing anything down. Settings sync across devices via iCloud, and the app itself collects no data. It feels like a missing native Safari feature rather than a third party add on.And for anyone clutching a smartphone while loudly complaining that apps collect user data, give me a break. Carrying a modern phone and pretending you live off grid is pure self parody. Tools like this exist for people who actually understand the game and choose to limit the damage instead of playing the fool.

Why does this app/extension have such frequent updates but the release notes are always identical? Hard to tell if this is an attempt to game the ratings or if there are real changes happening here that are just not being disclosed in the notes. If it’s just improvements and bugfixes then the developer should be transparent about it. But there’s been a lot of updates with the exact same vague release notes and it isn’t very reassuring for an app that requires user trust.
