ABOUT PHMUSEUM PhMuseum is a curated independent platform sharing visual language and its culture. Since 2012 we have been focused on finding diverse ways to display photography, educate, and connect with a growing community. Our mission is to discover, support and promote photographers, working as an innovative talent incubator. Over the past 13 years, our Grants Programme has recognised more than 900 artists with €220,000 in cash prizes, educational activities, residencies, exhibitions and screenings at international festivals including Getxophoto, PhEST, Fotofestiwal, Organ Vida, Cortona On The Move, Lagos Photo, Verzasca Foto, and our own PhMuseum Days. Former prize recipients include Max Pinckers, Bieke Depoorter, Alejandro Cartagena, Jacob Aue Sobol, Salvatore Vitale, Laura El-Tantawy, Diana Markosian, Alejandro Chaskielberg, Poulomi Basu, Miraj Patel, Rodrigo Pinheiro, Gal Cipreste Marinelli, Tara Laure Claire, Nikita Teryoshin and Thomas Van Houtryve, among many others. Since 2020, PhMuseum's Education Programme has accompanied emerging generations of photographers in the development of their practice. The programme comprises year-round individual tutoring, plus a growing list of long-term online masterclasses led by international experts such as Elisa Medde, Lewis Chaplin, Laura El-Tantawy, Max Pinckers, Salvatore Vitale, Nicolas Polli and Erik Kessels. In 2020 we established PhMuseum Lab in Bologna, Italy, a bridge between our online community and physical activities. In this multi-purpose space we present around three curated exhibitions every year, developed in close dialogue with artists. You can also join us for book presentations, talks, workshops and parties. Born in the late summer of 2021, PhMuseum Days is our International Photography Festival based in Bologna, Italy — a moment to enjoy photography in person and meet many people from our community. Each year we focus on a theme that challenges conventional ways of curating photography, working closely with artists while experimenting with structures, materials and design. Through exhibitions in historical and industrial locations, talks, public activities and a photobook area, the festival is a space to share contemporary practices with the public and encourage conversation.
