Tonbridge App
For Staff, Students & Parents
Free
The new combined Tonbridge App. For the entire Tonbridge Community.
The new combined app takes all that was great about the old Staff, Student and Parent app and merges them into a single, faster and more flexible solution.
*Spaces*
Rather than squeezing all the modules into one page, the new app has spaces containing relevant modules and information. For example, visit the My Classes Space for information about your class. You can also view your information in the My Profile Space.
*Improved Search Function*
The new search function allows you to find most things within the app. Simply click into the search bar and type what you're looking for - most modules within the app can be found in the search.
*Theme Customisation*
You can change the colour theme in the app, including presets for School colours. Additionally, you can change the background with white, black, and accent colours, including contrasting colours for accessibility.
more This update rebuilds how notifications reach you, gives admin a proper way to send push and email from inside the app, adds a native What's New screen, and tightens up sign-in security. We also fixed a pile of things that have been mildly annoying everyone for months.
New
• Notifications, rebuilt from the ground up. Delivery is now handled in-house, so the School controls how and when alerts reach your device. Fewer missed notifications, better reliability.
• A real notification settings card. Settings now shows whether Notifications and Critical Alerts are actually switched on, with Enable buttons right there. No more digging through system settings wondering why nothing's coming through.
• Login Activity. See your last few sign-ins, including the method used, the device and a rough location, so you can spot anything that wasn't you.
• Automatic protection against suspicious logins. Repeated failed attempts, or a sign-in that looks clearly out of the ordinary, now block an account automatically and alert IT, who can review and lift blocks from a new Blocked Users area.
• Communications composer for admin. Send or schedule push and email to a chosen group, with merge tags so every message is personalised, deep links that open the right screen, and a full record of who received what.
• Native What's New screen. Release notes now live inside the app, with a proper editor for the people who write them. Revolutionary, we know.
Fixed and improved
• Login and sessions are far more resilient, so you're no longer unceremoniously dumped back at the login screen.
• What's New now arrives as a quiet banner on the home screen instead of a pop-up in your face. Tap it if you're curious, ignore it if you're not.
• Tapping a notification reliably takes you where it's meant to, even if the app was fully closed when it arrived.
• Sent communications now record who was actually reached, rather than a hopeful shrug.
• The admin Email Log works again, and behaves like a proper sortable, filterable table.
• Music student lists no longer include leavers. Growth.
One note: as part of the security work, everyone was signed out once with this update. A one-off.
2026.8.3 3d ago
This update introduces a brand-new, modern way to sign in, shown in its own card on the login screen. Try it with a single tap, or keep using your existing method while it rolls out gradually. Sign in the new way and you'll also find a handy "Manage account" link in Settings.
Admin areas now include a quick extra verification step, with a clear explanation and a Verify button, so sensitive sections stay properly protected without getting in your way.
School Reports gets a real upgrade: save any report as a reusable template and load it next time, so you're not rebuilding the same setup every term. Your group selections are remembered too.
There's also improved handling of New Beacon staff across search and admin, cleaner data exports, and a new "Skipped" indicator in sync logs so you can always see what happened and why.
Staff Lifecycle is smarter, too. You now choose the School first, use proper typed inputs throughout, and can specify exactly who a new starter is replacing.
Plus faster kiosk and signage screens, a smoother science display, and a range of small fixes to make everyday use that little bit calmer.
2026.7.6 Jul 21
Exam candidate numbers can now be imported straight from an Excel sheet in App Admin. Download the template, upload your completed sheet, and the app checks it over before writing the numbers into Panoptic, then tells you exactly how many records were updated and whether anything couldn't be matched. No more manual copying.
The Science Village displays have been rebuilt: a clean subject header and a card for each period filling the screen, with each science getting its own consistent colour so the wall stays clear and easy to read, in both light and dark.
Admins can now delete a report entry directly from the report screen, with a clear warning when the entry is already complete, since deleting it also removes marks and grades.
We've also improved how the app stays logged in and recovers from session issues, so you're interrupted far less often. The IT tickets and admissions calendar displays scroll and highlight more calmly, several tables and empty states have been cleaned up, and staff onboarding and offboarding handling is more reliable across the board.
Smoother, cleaner, and a little less likely to lose its place.
2026.7.4 Jul 16
This is a big one. We’ve rebuilt the app on a new platform of our own, moving every feature across so that everything you rely on now runs on faster, more reliable foundations. Around 225 features were rebuilt from the ground up and checked one by one. The app looks much the same. Underneath, almost everything is new.
Pupils are now treated as a single, consistent identity throughout their time at the School, which makes leaver and applicant access far more sensible. When a pupil leaves, their parents and contacts keep access for a reasonable period rather than losing it overnight.
New in this release:
• Advanced Search is now a proper reporting tool. Save your searches, run them straight to results, and export to Excel on any device. The old hand-maintained spreadsheets are now built-in reports with always-live data.
• Report Analytics, giving admins an at-a-glance view of how report writing is progressing.
• Staff Lifecycle, a full joiners, movers and leavers system for HR and IT.
• New exports throughout, including all of a pupil’s reports as a single PDF, a whole-week Study Leave sheet, free periods, and a captioned photo grid.
We’ve also rebuilt person search to be quicker and more accurate, moved report and reward PDFs in-house for better reliability, stopped large exports from freezing the app, and fixed a long list of smaller issues uncovered while checking every part of the app.
Faster, cleaner and a good deal more reliable.
2026.7.1 Jul 12
This update is all about attendance and exports. You can now export attendance directly to a spreadsheet, either for a whole house or for an individual student, straight from the screen you are already on. No more copying figures across by hand.
Attendance colours have been reworked so they reflect whether someone is late, present, or absent, making the screen far easier to read at a glance.
Parents' Evening appointment handling has been rebuilt for more predictable bookings, and the school reports screens have been tidied up to behave more consistently.
Alongside this, the app has had a broad visual refresh. Cleaner layouts, calmer navigation, smoother date pickers, and a more modern feel throughout. There is also a fair amount of behind-the-scenes work to keep everything fast and reliable.
Cleaner, calmer, and quite a bit more capable than it was yesterday.

This update makes error screens far more helpful. They now adapt to the space available, show the right level of detail, and include proper buttons for copying details, reporting issues, or getting back to where you were. Attendance code colours are now pulled directly from the School's records for better accuracy, with special codes keeping their bespoke styling. Student profiles include richer relationship details, and appointments now show location information so you actually know where you're meant to be. A handful of quieter improvements behind the scenes round things off, leaving the app a little calmer and more consistent throughout.
2026.5.7 May 12
This update focuses on parents evening, gives you control over toast notifications, and fixes a handful of long-standing annoyances.
What's new:
A new "Toasts" section in Settings lets you choose how long in-app messages stay on screen: Short, Medium, Long, or Until Dismissed. Your choice is remembered, so you only set it once.
Toasts now have a close button, so you can dismiss them the moment you've finished reading.
Parents evening schedules can now be exported to PDF, making them easy to save, print, or share.
Appointment tables for pupils, parents, and staff now show clear session labels, so you always know which session you're looking at.
Staff appointments now include location information for booked slots.
Fixes and improvements:
Filter selections in the appointments widget now persist properly, so your view stays the way you left it.
Appointment slots are now sorted chronologically by start time, which is how they should always have been.
The app handles unusual or unknown slots more gracefully.
A range of behind-the-scenes refinements to make the app feel smoother and more reliable.

2026.3.1 Mar 2
We’ve given leave management a proper festive clean-up. Think less “pile of tangled fairy lights” and more “neatly wrapped box under the tree.”
Leave requests have been completely refreshed, making them easier to create, track, and manage without hopping between old pages or wondering where things disappeared to. Everything now lives in one calmer, more organised place—because no one wants admin chaos in December.
Attendance has also had a seasonal polish, with clearer indicators and smarter summaries so you can see what’s going on at a glance (even when your brain has already checked out for the year).
And finally, we’ve sprinkled in a handful of quiet improvements across the app—smoother interactions, safer pop-ups, and fewer little surprises waiting to jump out at you.
In short: less faff, more clarity, and one more thing crossed off the list before the mince pies come out.
2025.12.1 12/25/2025
his update focuses on migrating more modules to the new app and clearing out a handful of delightfully persistent issues. Interview Notes and Assessment Afternoon tools now work properly in their new home, and several daily-use screens are much less irritating.
Migrated
Interview Notes
Now fully migrated, and yes — you can finally update them without the system having an existential crisis.
Assessment Afternoons
The date now actually saves. It’s the little things.
Assessment Afternoon Admin
You can now export a single date (not your entire school history).
You can also export Interview Notes, because that should always have been possible.
Fixes and Improvements
Parents’ Evening Appointment Requests
A real confirmation dialog now appears, replacing the invisible button that previously did nothing. Appointment requesting is now a functional activity, not a guessing game.
Login Screen
Added direct app download links, because making users hunt for them felt unnecessarily cruel.
Future Absences
The page now scrolls properly instead of locking you in place like a museum exhibit.
Appointment Sharing
The app now clearly tells users where shared appointments show up — apparently the old wording was only obvious if you were psychic.
Parents’ Evening (Staff View)
The information banner now only appears when it’s actually relevant, not every time out of raw enthusiasm.
This update may look small, but it removes several long-standing irritations and brings more modules into the modern app experience — smoother, clearer, and much less shout-at-your-screen energy.
2025.11.12 11/26/2025

Parents’ Evening

• Creation form now validates as you go.
• House pages now link directly to the correct Parents’ Evening via house code.
