more I have absolutely been enjoying this app and use it daily. It’s been easy to get used to. I’ve figured out a lot of great features I love as well. Import recipes, sort, alter, add and change ingredients. It’s awesome, I totally recommend.

I love having my favorite recipes organized at my fingertips. I am trying to import a recipe from Facebook. The app doesn’t seem to recognize Facebook as a source of recipes. Can you assist me? A short video added to your developer page on importing recipes from Facebook would be great!
Developer Response Thanks for your feedback, and sorry for the delayed response! At the moment, importing from social media platforms like Facebook isn’t supported yet – but it’s already in development. I’ve also taken note of your suggestion to offer more guidance or tutorials. That’s something I’d definitely like to improve, though it may take a bit more time. Appreciate your patience and the helpful input!

I really like this recipe app. The only thing that I feel can be improved is to make the Recipe Book full screen for easy viewing of your recipes and after so many recipes to start a new line of recipes.

I had been printing copies of web pages to keep a recipe. Will Taste I can just add those recipes to this app and no more printing and having to look through multiple printed pages to find what I want. Love this app!
Developer Response Thanks a lot for the kind words. It means a lot to hear that Taste is actually saving you time and paper. Glad it's working for you!

This stability update fixes crashes related to tags and file import.
# Corrections
• Duplicate or inconsistent tags are now handled more robustly.
• File import has been stabilized so that ongoing import preparation no longer causes crashes when leaving the Recipe Book.
1.5.13 Jul 17
This smaller update mainly refines Search and Smart Folders. Search is now placed more prominently, the new tab bar feels more modern, and several details have been adapted for current iOS versions.
# Changes
• On current iOS versions, Search is now integrated more prominently into the tab bar, making it feel quicker to access.
• The suggestion panel for categories and tags has been rebuilt from the ground up and now fits more clearly into Search.
• Search history, search results, and empty states have been refined to make Search feel calmer and easier to understand.
• Smart Folders have been visually refined, both in Search and when creating or editing them.
# Corrections
• Several visual issues in Search, search results, and Smart Folders have been fixed.
• Smart Folders in Search now update more reliably after being created or edited.
1.5.12 Jul 8
This update mainly introduces the new file import feature in the Recipe Book. It also brings a noticeably improved intelligent recipe tool for structuring recipes, along with several visible improvements and everyday fixes.
# Additions
• Recipes can now be imported directly from local files into the Recipe Book. Multiple files or a single folder can be processed in one run, reviewed beforehand, and then saved selectively.
• From the start, file import already supports a broad first set of local formats, including images, text files, PDFs, locally saved recipe pages, and Taste export files.
# Changes
• The intelligent recipe tool for structuring recipes has been significantly improved. It now works more clearly, organizes ingredients and steps more reliably, and delivers more coherent results in the default case.
• The showcase content in the Recipe Book has also been refined visually and updated with refreshed images.
• The presentation of badges and showcase content in the Recipe Book has been tuned to feel calmer and more consistent in several places.
# Corrections
• Detail views in recipes now behave more cleanly when switching between multiple open contexts.
• Several rare stability issues in Search and the Recipe Book have been fixed.
I’m happy to finally make file import available. It is an important step because it opens up new and much more flexible ways to bring recipes into Taste. At the same time, this is only the beginning: more formats and additional import paths are planned over time, so recipes can be brought in more broadly and more easily.
1.5.11 Jun 24
This update is a smaller interim release with a few important fixes and two visible improvements. The focus is on better stability, new multi-delete support in the Recipe Book, and a refined in-app browser.
# Additions
• Recipes and categories can now also be selected and deleted together in the Recipe Book.
# Changes
• The in-app browser has been refined and adapted to the new Liquid Glass design.
# Corrections
• Exports and Recipe Book backups are now more reliable.
• In assignment mode, the Tag Manager now starts more reliably with the correct height when larger text sizes are used.
• Fixed a hang in Tag Manager search on iPad.
1.5.10 May 22
This update expands Taste in two directions: Smart Recipe Tools introduce new AI-assisted tools directly inside recipes, and tags can now also be assigned to multiple selected recipes at once in the Recipe Book. In addition, this release includes a few focused fixes in related areas.
# Additions
• Smart Recipe Tools introduce a new shared foundation for AI-assisted recipe revisions, including a dedicated start flow, preview, and deliberate apply step for visible changes.
• `Translate Recipe` is now available as a new tool for translating existing recipes directly inside the currently opened recipe.
• `Structure Recipe` is now available as another tool for organizing recipes more clearly, improving the structure of ingredients and instructions, and making visible recipe content easier to work with.
• Tags can now be assigned to multiple selected recipes at once in the Recipe Book.
# Changes
• The Tag Manager has been extended for the new multitagging flow and now presents assignment mode more clearly. This also improves the context presentation for multi-selection, empty selection, and blocked cases.
# Corrections
• Fixed a crash in the Smart Folder tag picker that could occur with duplicated shared-tag states.
• Fixed a hang while printing or sharing certain Paprika-imported recipes with problematic note states.
• Problematic optional recipe links no longer block export or Recipe Book Backup. Clearly recognizable link issues are now handled automatically.
1.5.9 May 18
This update brings together two larger focus areas: the category share start in Private Sharing has been fundamentally reworked, and Recipe Book Backup now adds a new protection mechanism for your own Recipe Book. In addition, this release includes a few smaller fixes and refinements in related areas.
# Additions
• Recipe Book Backup now introduces a new internal backup area in Settings, including automatic background backups, manual backup runs, and restore from the latest local backup.
# Changes
• The start of category shares in Private Sharing has been rebuilt and now waits more deliberately for a quiet iCloud state, making especially larger shares feel more stable and smoother to start.
• The iCloud status indicator in the Recipe Book is now clearer and shows more reliably whether data is currently being uploaded to or saved in iCloud.
# Corrections
• Aborted category shares in Private Sharing are now rolled back more reliably instead of leaving behind visible intermediate states or stuck progress UI.
• Recipe count badges in categories now remain more reliably in their intended position and no longer appear incorrectly when the count display is disabled.
• Fixed a crash that could occur when leaving the web import flow.
With this update, Private Sharing could be improved noticeably both in stability and in usability. The feature will still remain labeled as beta for now, so the next steps can continue to be observed and refined on a stronger foundation.
1.5.8 May 3
This update introduces a new dedicated way to import a recipe book from a Taste Export. At the same time, a lot of work in this release continues to focus on improving stability and diagnostics around Private Sharing, alongside several smaller fixes in the Recipe Book.
# Additions
• A recipe book can now be imported directly from a Taste Export.
• Importing from a Taste Export is available as its own clearly separated import path.
• The import flow offers fitting options for either merging into the current recipe book or replacing it, as well as for handling conflicts.
• The new Taste Export import flow includes package validation before import and a reliable processing path for supported exports.
# Changes
• Around Private Sharing, additional technical groundwork and diagnostic support have been expanded to make problematic states easier to assess and future improvements more targeted.
# Corrections
• The iCloud loading hint no longer briefly appears incorrectly during a normal app relaunch.
• Recipe count badges in categories now stay positioned more reliably directly next to the category title, even while scrolling and rebuilding cells.
• In the sharing management area, permissions in open link shares are now shown as editable only where those changes can currently be applied reliably.
• A few detail views and count-based checks in the Recipe Book around diagnostics and consistency cases have been aligned further and made more reliable.
Private Sharing still remains the main focus when it comes to stability. In particular, starting larger shares for categories with many recipes can currently still take noticeable time, and the overall flow does not yet feel as smooth as it should. At the same time, further stability improvements are ongoing to reduce problematic sharing states and to handle remaining inconsistencies more reliably over time.
1.5.7 Apr 21
This update introduces the new data export in Taste. Recipes and categories can now be selected directly from the Recipe Book and saved in open formats.
# Additions
• New data export directly in the Recipe Book for selected recipes and categories
• Export as JSON, Markdown, or as a combined package containing both formats
• The export structure is designed so that additional export formats can be added later
1.5.6 Apr 10
This hotfix fixes two particularly important issues in Recipe Book diagnostics and during Recipe Book startup.
# Corrections
• The internal diagnostic tools for the Recipe Book were made more robust so they are less likely to crash themselves even when existing Recipe Book states are already inconsistent.
• The initialization of the Root category and showcase content during startup was specifically softened after first-time users could end up in an unusable state since the last update.
1.5.5 Apr 6
This update expands the internal diagnostic tools for the Recipe Book, making unusual synchronization and structural states easier to assess during support. This helps especially with analyzing rare issue cases more precisely and distinguishing them more quickly. Next, I want to focus more strongly on recipe safety again, including an export feature and automatic snapshots.
1.5.4 Apr 4
And another hotfix: Following recent live observations around Private Sharing and recipe book recovery, this update improves reliability in smaller inconsistency cases and also includes additional stability fixes for rare crash scenarios.
1.5.3 Apr 1
This follow-up hotfix responds to Private Sharing issues that showed up more strongly in the live environment than expected. Its focus is on improving the stability of private sharing, making recipe book recovery more robust in problematic states, and providing better diagnostics and support foundations.
# Corrections
• Private Sharing has been made more robust in problematic scenarios so shares are less likely to end up in inconsistent states.
• Recipe Book recovery has been expanded so noticeable or damaged states can be identified more reliably and handled more carefully.
• Diagnostics and support tools have been improved so unusual recipe book and synchronization states can be assessed more clearly.
1.5.2 Apr 1
This hotfix update adds an additional recovery mechanism for rare issue cases in the Recipe Book after sharing and includes further fixes for recipe editing and overview.
1.5.1 Mar 30
This update is a major update focused on Private Sharing. For the first time, you can use recipes and categories together with other people, whether for a family cookbook, sharing favorite recipes, or working on new ideas together. It is also the largest feature release Taste has received so far.
# Additions
• Private Sharing for recipes and categories.
• Accepting invitations to shared content directly in the app.
• A dedicated management view for participants, roles, and sharing actions.
• Visible indicators for shared content in the Recipe Book, Search, and Smart Folders.
# Corrections
• Recipe list presentation has been refined in two places: recipe tile preview sizes now display correctly again, and size preferences in Smart Folders now persist after restarting the app.
Private Sharing has been by far the most requested feature for Taste. That makes it even more important for me to say openly that it took much longer than planned. The scope and complexity of this feature were greater than I originally expected, and that unfortunately led to several delays.
I truly hope it was worth the wait. At the same time, Private Sharing is launching as a beta on purpose. It should continue to mature through real-world use, and your experiences, feedback, and reports of issues will be especially valuable in helping with that.
Because this update took so long to arrive, I want to offer a small gesture in return: the one-time unlock for Taste is available at a significantly reduced price for a limited time. Maybe this is a good moment for some of you to unlock Taste permanently.
For the next updates, I want to focus more on features that can be delivered faster again. I do not want to promise too much, but update frequency should pick up again, and there are already more exciting features on the way. At the same time, app stability will remain a priority, especially for large recipe libraries. I also want to address some remaining rough edges in the recipe detail view.
Critical feedback, feature suggestions, and reports of incorrect behavior are always welcome. If you notice anything, feel free to contact me at support@taste-recipe-manager.app.
1.5.0 Mar 28
This update refreshes the AI-assisted recipe import, because the AI provider will soon stop offering the Large Language Model previously used. To keep recipe extraction working, Taste 1.4.19 is required.
# Changes
• The AI-assisted recipe import has been revised so recipes can continue to be extracted reliably from text. If a request fails, Taste will automatically try again internally.
# Corrections
• Stability has been improved and rare crashes have been fixed.
Taste 1.5.0 is the next major update and brings Private Sharing, meaning sharing across iCloud accounts. I originally planned to release it earlier, but unfortunately I had to postpone it again and again. Along the way it became clear that it requires more foundational work than it seems from the outside, and other topics kept coming up in between.
The current state is now really solid and 1.5.0 is getting closer. The wait will be over soon. Thanks for your patience.
1.4.19 Feb 26
This hotfix update resolves reported issues and includes small adjustments based on user feedback.
# Changes
• More buttons on iOS 26 have been updated to match the Liquid Glass design.
• The recipe title is now displayed a bit more subtly in the overview.
• Recipe scaling has been improved for piece-based yields.
# Corrections
• A rare crash has been fixed and missing localizations have been added.
• Internal diagnostics have been expanded to better trace purchase status and unlock state.
1.4.18 Feb 13
This hotfix update addresses additional reported issues and includes a few practical day-to-day improvements.
# Changes
• New recipes you create from scratch now automatically switch to edit mode and focus the title, so you can rename them right away.
• The URL import is more robust and more clearly indicates when a page is still loading before the import can start.
# Corrections
• When editing recipes, scrolling and spacing with the keyboard open have been corrected in certain situations.
1.4.17 Jan 28
This hotfix update addresses several reported issues and improves importing and stability in a few specific situations.
# Additions
• When scanning recipes, captured photos are now saved together with the imported recipe.
# Corrections
• The TikTok import supports more link variants (including photo posts) and is more robust when extracting images and captions.
• The tag manager has been made more stable and is more pleasant to use in many situations.
• On iOS 18 and older, navigation bar buttons could become invisible in some cases after returning from the recipe view.
• Fixed a rare crash when closing the app.
This hotfix update was again strongly driven by your feedback. If you run into any issues—especially error messages or import problems—feel free to contact me anytime at support@taste-recipe-manager.app. In these areas, not everything is covered by automated tests yet, so your reports help a lot.
1.4.16 Jan 22
This hotfix update improves internal diagnostics and fixes a rare crash as well as an issue with the Recipe Book repair function.
1.4.15 Jan 10
This update is primarily a preparation patch for the upcoming bigger feature “Private Sharing” (Collaboration). It includes internal groundwork and a set of stability fixes.
# Changes
• The tag system has been reworked behind the scenes to reliably support sharing recipes and categories in the future. In day-to-day use, tags should behave exactly as before.
# Corrections
• Several rare crashes have been fixed that recently could occur primarily on iPads in certain transition and layout situations.
• In addition, AI imports no longer unintentionally translate content from unsupported languages into English.
Unfortunately, development of “Private Sharing” has taken significantly more time than originally expected and will require a bit more patience. I’m doing my best to ship the update as early as possible in the new year. After that, I plan to focus more on performance improvements and recipe safety again.
1.4.14 12/31/2025
This time it’s a small maintenance update that fixes issues in the recipe book and the recipe view on iOS 26.
# Corrections
• In the recipe book, the scroll position of recipe lists on iPhone in portrait orientation on iOS 26 is now preserved again after opening a recipe.
• In the recipe view, in the header area with the recipe images, the image picker is now shown correctly again when paging horizontally.
• On devices running a system older than iOS 26, the buttons in the header while editing recipes now have backgrounds again, making them easier to see.
Next up is version 1.4.14 with internal adjustments to the data model so that the big 1.5 update with private sharing can launch reliably.
1.4.13 12/11/2025
In this hotfix update, a rare issue has been fixed that could cause Taste to freeze when printing or sharing certain recipes as a PDF.
1.4.12 12/01/2025
This update includes subtle improvements to the paywall to better support occasional pricing promotions.
1.4.11 11/28/2025
This update improves recipe editing on iOS 26 and includes minor refinements to the import process.
# Additions
• The total number of all recipes is now shown as a subtitle in the menu item that controls recipe count visibility.
# Changes
• Recipe editing on iOS 26 now uses toolbars with the Liquid Glass appearance.
• HTTP error codes are now displayed directly in alerts during import.
# Corrections
• Improved ingredient analysis and more reliable language detection during import.
The adjustments for iOS 26 have taken more time than expected. The next major feature will be Private Sharing for recipes and categories. This requires some internal groundwork, but I’m steadily moving forward and will keep you updated.
1.4.10 11/17/2025
This update brings more clarity to the initial iCloud import after restoring or reinstalling the app and includes minor refinements.
# Additions
• Added a short note explaining that the first iCloud import may take a bit longer.
# Changes
• Improved image extraction for Instagram posts in web import.
• Creating new categories and recipes is temporarily disabled during the first iCloud import.
# Corrections
• Added missing localizations when creating blank new recipes.
If you notice any untranslated text or missing localizations, I’d appreciate a short message.
1.4.9 10/20/2025
This stability update fixes crashes related to tags and file import.
# Corrections
• Duplicate or inconsistent tags are now handled more robustly.
• File import has been stabilized so that ongoing import preparation no longer causes crashes when leaving the Recipe Book.
