In no way am I trying to hate on this game. I really enjoyed the first level (Crystal Cave), the mechanics are very simple and the level was challenging enough whilst not being too infuriating. The problem arose in the second level (Firethorn Forest). I’ve been trying to beat this level for hours to no avail. In my opinion, the first level worked because it was only skill, but the fire shooter enemies that were introduced in the second level added too much of a luck aspect to be enjoyable. This might just be a skill issue on my part, but the farthest I’ve gotten is the fourth section of the race and this is due to the random directions that the fire shooters seem to be firing in. It feels like I have to get very lucky to beat this race, for one, I have to hope that the projectiles don’t immediately down me if I’m too close to the enemies, and two, I have to hope that the projectiles aren’t in my way of completing that section or else I’m going to be too slow and cannot finish it. Again, this is most likely just a skill issue on my part, but I can’t help but be a bit infuriated by these enemies seemingly random projectile trajectories. Besides my gripe with these enemies, this is a very well designed game with very simple mechanics that I would recommend to anyone that desires a difficult challenge.

I really loved this game for the most part; I do not agree with the reviews saying the level design is too frustrating or the frog is too mean lol. Very fun and well-made overall. My only problem is that the ending “race” in level 2 is wayyyy harder than anything else in the game. Tbh it feels like the devs were out of content (which is fine, new levels are coming) but wanted to keep players in-app for ad money, so they stretched the last ~2 minutes of content into ~2 hours by making you replay it a couple hundred times. Perhaps the difficulty spike would feel more earned if anything prior was remotely close to that difficult. Playing thru the whole game up to the race took me ~40 minutes on first attempt, and the 2 minute race took me 2 hours lol. Now nothing in the game is remotely difficult to me except the race which is very hard. Great game overall tho, love how they built on the mechanics of flappy bird and jump king. Oh also the interstitial ad video is pretty cringe, totally agree w others on that.

This is my opinion currently from when I beat level 2, but god I think it’s warped my perspective on the game. In my opinion, I don’t think I like the race. You see, I believe the game challenges the play through precision, like Celeste. Now, I don’t want to compare everything with Bat to bed with Celeste, just its punishing system. See, in every level, Celeste gives you as much time as you need to progress without the requirement to speedrun because it knows you will make mistakes. This is what I consider similar to bad to bed as well, up until this race. The race felt like it encourages you to go less on precision and more on speed, but the obstacles are still hard as earlier and there are less places to land other than the gates. This made me believe I only went through the last gate due to luck as I think I saw a load of enemies covering so much area, yet I couldn’t really think well as I’m way too focused of going up. Getting hit almost means you’re not making it, especially if you got hit when you’re midway to almost reaching the next gate. I’m not saying the race should be gone, but rather improvised better as it’s rather straying away from what I believe what I understand the game. But every other complaint I have in this game is nitpicky, but this took about 2 hours to complete the second level…

Honestly, was really enjoying this game a lot, sadly I had to uninstall due to the very poorly designed second level. The game is very much designed around timing your flaps and dancing around the floating enemies and obstacles, but the second level features a time limit boss at the end, where you are supposed to race a bat ghosts through a gauntlet of rooms to the end. It’s an okay concept but it goes against the gameplay that you are being taught. Sure there’s a speed aspect to the game, but for level two the expectation of the player is high. There’s so many rooms and way too many obstacles that you have to be perfect around or you lose. At one point I got to a room that I assume was the final room where there were tight rooms with a bunch of circles with fireballs in them and when you got through those, walls of spikes and flames that spit fire in semi random directions, and since it’s a completely cylindrical room, if you get hit you fall so far that the race restarts and if it doesn’t you might as well wait till it does restart cause you are 0 chance making it again.It’s very frustrating and I get the game is a rage bait game but it feels more like an unfair arcade game that’s designed to eat your wallet which means it’s more unfair than skill based.
